Among aespa members, Giselle is the only one who participated in SM's open audition before she was selected to debut in the girl group. What's the story behind it?
aespa Giselle Reveals How She Passed SM's Saturday Open Audition
On November 30, aespa Giselle appeared as a guest on the 13th episode of Dex's "Fridge Interview," released by the YouTube channel, "117."
On this day, Giselle clarified rumors and facts about her, including the speculations that she was a conglomerate's granddaughter and refuted this claim.

When asked about her school days, Giselle confessed that she wanted to become an artist since then.
"I was a student who tried singing, dancing, and acting."
As a result, she attended SM's open audition, specifically the Saturday Open Audition, which is said to be the hardest.
Giselle narrated her cast story, saying:
"I auditioned. It was a Saturday open audition. I did it around four times in Korea. I came to Korea the next day after graduation. I just kept doing the audition. At the time, I was so determined."
Just then, Giselle revealed that she almost wouldn't make it into aespa if she didn't pass the open audition for the fourth time.
"(If I didn't pass it), I would try another company."
Fortunately, she was selected to become SM Entertainment's trainee and was later picked to debut with aespa.
Regarding the process, Giselle explained:
"Other trainees are usually trained for about four years. But as for me, it was only 11 months including the time I prepared for my debut (in aespa)."
She also added the challenges she faced, stating:
"When I became a trainee, I never danced properly. I learned it there for the first time. Every day from morning to early morning, I moved my body every day. But I couldn't even think about it. It was really hard, but I really had to dance for a really long time.
I'll just admit what I have to admit, I'll continue to improve myself. But I want to make sure I don't lose myself. I think I did it with the mindset of continuing to go ahead."
Here's Why It's Huge Achievement to Pass SM's Saturday Open Audition
Among aespa, Giselle is the only one who came from SM's Saturday open audition, which is famous for its high difficulty level and considerably low passing rate.
Held every week for more than 22 years, this audition is open to all regardless of age; thus, there is a high volume of participants.
For about two decades, numerous trainees passed the audition, but only 7 were able to debut under SM Entertainment!
In history, only Super Junior Heechul, Girls' Generation YoonA, SHINee Taemin, Red Velvet Seulgi, NCT Jungwoo and Haechan, and aespa Giselle are known to have made their debut after a public audition on Saturday.
It then became a legend that idols who debuted through the SM's Saturday open audition would meet guaranteed popularity and success, looking at their precedents.
