In an interview, Kang Hyewon expressed NO plan to continue singing career to focus on her current acting challenge. Did she regret debuting in IZ*ONE?
On December 15, the female idol sat down with various Korean media outlets such as OSEN to dish on her recent acting project, "Boyhood," her singing career and future direction after IZ*ONE's departure.
In particular, prior to becoming an actress, Kang debuted as a member of the "Nation's Pick" IZ*ONE in 2018. However, after about three years, the project group disbanded in 2021.

When the members parted ways, they scattered to different entertainment labels, with Kang Hyewon returning to her agency 8D Entertainment.
In the same year, most of her co-members debuted as soloists like Choi Yena, Lee Chaeyeon, Jo Yuri & Kwon Eunbi, while others re-debuted in a group like IVE Jang Wonyoung and An Yujin. Sakura and Kim Chaewon also joined LE SSERAFIM.
Among those members who pursued acting, Kang Hyewon is one of them, as well as Kim Minju, Nako, and Hitomi.
While the aforementioned actress still has activities related to singing, Kang Hyewon hasn't released any song, and fans anticipating if she has any plans to re-debut as a soloist or as a group member.
In the interview, she broke the news of her not pursuing her singing career in the meantime, saying:
"I don't have any plans for singing. I have good memories and feelings rather than regrets, but I hope there will be a day when I can finally do it."
She expressed a strong desire to focus on acting for now, adding:
"When I was a member of IZ*ONE, I experienced a lot of emotions through my fans. I want to make the public feel a lot of emotions through me while working as an actress. I want to work hard and make people feel various emotions because of me.
I think I'm getting more serious as I get older. I don't set my goals in advance, but I want to do my best to stay true to the present.
But in the future, even if I don’t do a lot of work, I will work more seriously and focus on the work I do. I want to work hard to make it happen."

Even if more than two years had passed, Kang Hyewon hinted at IZ*ONE's unchanging relationship despite pursuing respective careers.
In fact, the idol-turned-actress revealed that the members were also watching her drama, "Boyhood" and often gave their feedback to her.
She shared:
"I was thankful that the members watched the first episode even though they were busy. I was so touched that they left a comment that it was so much fun.
Some members act, but they don't really talk about acting in depth, they tend to talk in a trivial way. It's nice to be able to share and receive empathy."
