Following her apology for unstable singing at the MBC Drama Awards, (G)I-DLE Miyeon continues to be criticized for being "insincere" on top of being mocked for her skills.
Earlier on December 30, 2023, (G)I-DLE Miyeon attended the MBC Drama Awards to perform a celebratory performance.
She particularly showed a heartwarming stage of "The Painted on the Moonlight," an OST she officially sang for "My Dearest," starring Nam Goong Min and Ahn Eun Jin, which also became the "Drama of the Year."
During her stage, Miyeon drew praise for her lovely visuals, but she unfortunately failed to impress viewers with her singing ability due to her unstable pitch and tone.

She wrote:
"To all the viewers of MBC Drama Awards and Nevies (fandom). I am honored to perform a song tonight. I was so delighted to be able to sing a track that I like so much, but I was very nervous and so I was off-pitch... I totally messed up.
I monitored my performance and I think you might have been surprised. I apologize to those who were disappointed when it was supposed to be a celebratory performance.
Going forward, I'll become a MIYEON who strives harder in the future. The performance at the SBS Entertainment Awards was a blast as well. Thank you all for watching."
K-Netz Unhappy with Miyeon's Apology
Despite her apology, Miyeon continued to receive hateful comments, pointing out that she sounded "insincere" for making an informal apology on her Instagram story.
She was also mocked for her singing skills, asking if she had been always like that and if she was only a visual idol who couldn't even sing live.
In particular, aside from being the visuals, Miyeon is the main vocalist of (G)I-DLE as well, and among K-pop idols, she was supposed to be one of the best in terms of her singing ability and tone.
Here are some of the comments:
- "These idols are just visuals who can't ever sing live. They should be called 'singers' only when they can actually showcase their vocal talent live."
- "She could have made a handwritten apology to make it sound more formal. What's with all the annoying emojis."
- "Her apology sounds more like, 'Heh, I'm not really sorry. It's because I'm nervous so you have to understand."
- "The truth on her skills come to light."
- "It was seriously the worst. How did she hide those skills all this time?"
- "Being nervous shouldn't be an excuse for a singer to be so off-pitch like that. She needs to go back to the practice room."
- "It was so bad that I had to change the channel because I'm getting second-hand embarrassment."
