Do you think THESE five HIT songs would still be as huge as it was if they were sung by other female artists?
In the K-pop scene, it is not rare that a song has been offered to other artists first before their actual singers officially release it.
However, there are instances when learning who almost got a certain song intrigued fans, if how it would be like to be sung in their distinct music style, and if it would be as popular as it was if they actually were the one to release the song.
1. Sunmi to IVE - 'Love Dive'
In 2022, the top fourth-gen girl group IVE truly reigned with their hit track, "Love Dive" which earned numerous #1 in music charts, music shows and awards ceremony.
Later on, the former Wonder Girls Sunmi played this song and revealed that she was initially offered the demo version of the song.
While she truly liked the song as it was her style, Sunmi sadly rejected it since she thought the song was more suitable for a girl group.
2. Apink to STAYC - 'Stereotype'
According to the song's producer, Black Eyed Pilseung, "Stereotype" has been in their treasure box since 2019.
Ahead of Apink's comeback in the same year, the song was supposed to be for them, but, things didn't go as planned and the girl group ended up releasing a different song.
The song was then prepared for STAYC as their debut song in 2020 but the plan failed again. It was in September 2021 when the song was finally officially released and became a hit.
3. TWICE to I.O.I - 'Very Very Very'
In 2016, the Mnet-produced girl group I.O.I, which members were selected through the survival show, "Produce 101" debuted with the track, "Very Very Very," which captured the whole nation's hearts.
In 2019, Jeongyeon then revealed that the song written by JYP's founder J.Y. Park was actually meant for TWICE!
In fact, the members' lines were already distributed and the group has been practicing it, but it was eventually given to I.O.I for its debut.
In the same year, they released their hit track, "TT" in exchange for "Very Very Very," which is also iconic, nevertheless!
4. 2NE1 to BLACKPINK - 'As If It's Your Last'
In an interview with Minzy in 2021, she revealed that BLACKPINK's iconic song, "As If It's Your Last" was actually supposed to be their song.
They considered recording the song and were almost included in their album, "CRUSH" with the title track, "Come Back Home" in 2014. However, it was eventually rejected due to numerous good songs in their studio album.
5. SNSD to f(x) - 'Hot Summer'
When the topic is summer, the song "Hot Summer" released by f(x) in 2011 is impossible not to be mentioned.
But did you know that it was originally a song for Girls' Generation?
In the past, a demo of the song has been leaked online, where the original NINE SNSD members were singing. The song has different lyrics and the initial title was assumed to be "Take Over."
