SHINee Minho has gone viral for making THIS gesture to his female dancers. Why is it such a big deal?
On January 21, an OP took to the Korean forum theqoo to praise the male idol's remark and gesture, saying he's the definition of a "real man."
In an article, titled, "The guys should sit, we shouldn't make the women sit," K-netz applauded Minho's behavior of making the men bend down instead of the girls during a photo op.
When it went viral, K-netizens then explained why it was such a big deal to hear and see it from the idol.
SHINee Minho Garners Admiration for Sweet & Manly Gesture to Female Backup Dancers
In particular, the post that rose to the rankings of trending topics has now about 70k views and is receiving massive positive cheers from K-pop fans.
In the writings, the OP attached a snippet of the behind-the-scenes from MINHO's fan con, "MULTI-CHASE," released on the 21st through SHINee's official YouTube channel.
The caption of the video attached from the X platform said:
"He's seriously the realest man among men, the hope for men. When they were taking a photo, he's that type of man who will not make women bend on their knees."

In the video, it can be seen that Minho initially gets ready to take the photos with his male backup dancers standing, but realizing the women can't sit due to their knees and outfits, the idol immediately tells the male dancers to sit down and cover the girls.
Another internet user can't help but show affection for Minho's attitude and added:
"What do you guys call a personality like SHINee Minho's? For me, he's definitely my ideal type. He doesn't look macho, but he's just manly. He kind of gives the same vibe as a man from the past that's rare to see these days.
He's definitely not macho, but I don't know how to express this manly vibe I'm getting. What do you usually call this personality? Mature...? He's already an adult, though."
SHINee Minho's Gesture Sparks Debate — Why Is It Such a Big Deal?
Eventually, the video garnered thousands of views, and while a lot was giving positive comments about the SHINee member, some netizens raised brows to those cheering on Minho.
According to them, the idol's gesture is not a big deal to celebrate, since it's just the bare minimum and the standard. Some web commenters don't see the reason for it to become a huge topic when it was an act that was supposed to be done by men at the very beginning.
K-Netz agreed, but they went on to explain and defend why Minho's gesture was such a big deal.
In the comment sections, Koreans implied that while men are expected to treat women right and nicely, a few can actually embody this due to the strong patriarchal system in South Korea, and the alarming misogyny in the country.
Thus, seeing a gentleman and a real guy as considerate as Minho made everyone's hearts flutter.
Here are the comments from netizens:
- "Oh, it's rare right now that I can't get used to this personality."
- "This is something you rarely see in Korea, so it's amazing. Even when I was in school, if you look at the group photos, you'll see girls sitting wearing school uniform skirts while the guys are standing."
- "It really seems like real men like this are on the verge of extinction in Korea."
- "What are scientists doing? Quickly make a clone of Minho."
- "He's so cool because it was something even I hadn't thought of."
- "Ah, I saw a picture of a girl bending down and a guy standing the other day, so it looks even cooler."
The praises continued, saying:
- "That's what real men should do. Incels, learn from him."
- "He's an alpha male. But I also like his cute side especially when he's with her older sisters (noonas)."
- "He's an alpha male who learned good manners."
- "He's a real man. He's sweet, makes the money and does the household chores."
