Ex-MOMOLAND Daisy Recounts Story From Former Trainee Days

Before starting her video, she asked viewers not to assume which company or group she was talking about. Though she debuted under MLD Entertainment as a member of MOMOLAND, she revealed she had actually trained under several agencies before making her debut.
She starts her story off by saying that it is common knowledge that trainees undergo monthly evaluations. For this company, they held a year-end evaluation in December. However, unlike previous evaluations, this was not as serious. In fact, the company attempted to make it fun by having it themed like a year-end award show.
Like an award show, the company gave out custom-made trophies for the trainees. She noted the awards were unserious and lighthearted, with categories such as "person who came to the practice room the most" or "person who improved the most."
However, it was the last category that rubbed Daisy the wrong way. Though at the time she did not think of anything, she confesses that now she finds it "kind of weird."
Former MOMOLAND Daisy Dishes on How the Company Rewarded Trainees for Major Weight Loss
The last category was called "The Diet Award" and was given to the person who lost the most weight.
While Daisy understood the company's intention of rewarding the trainees for their hard work, it still rubbed her the wrong way. Notably, none of the trainees at the time were adults; they were mostly middle schoolers and high schoolers. The ex-idol added that there were trainees as young as 11 years old in the room.
When the winner got their award, they gave a speech and promised that she would try to lose more weight. At the time, Daisy did not see it as problematic. In fact, she thought she wanted that award too.

Daisy revealed she told this story to a friend of hers who is currently active as a K-pop idol. Surprisingly, the only problem she had with the "Diet Award" was that it was "unfair" to those who were already skinny since they could not lose the same amount of weight.
Daisy finished her story-time by saying she hoped the company stopped giving out the award and wondered if anyone else found it weird. She reveals that because of her idol and trainee background, she lost her sense of judgment on these topics, showing off how rampant the diet culture is amongst young K-pop hopefuls.
