Boy Group Member Revealed to Sell Gifts From Fans in Online Secondhand Market

On January 8, an internet user (hereafter called A) took to X (formerly Twitter) to expose MIRAE member Jang Yubin for selling gifts he received from fans on Bunjang, a popular online secondhand marketplace. A released screenshoots of the listing and their conversation with Jang Yubin as proof.

Back in December 2023, Jang Yubin placed a designer jacket for sale on Bunjang for 150,000 KRW. In the description of the product, he wrote, "I bought this myself in Japan for 270,000–280,000 KRW this autumn. After washing it once, the printing slightly faded, so I do not wear it anymore. I am selling it at a cheaper price."

After discovering the listing, A recognized the jacket as one she had given Jang Yubin before. As a result, A messaged the seller directly because they wanted to make sure they were, in fact, Jang Yubin. In the end, she was able to confirm his identity.

After being caught, Jang Yubin admitted he was at fault. He messaged A, saying, "I am sorry. I was not thinking straight."

Hurt by his actions, A message, "You know that I like you a lot. I just want you to understand this situation from my perspective so I can move on."

Jang Yubin then explained why he decided to sell the jacket. He stated he had many worries at the end of the year, and he wanted to buy things to solve his worries. However, he was too ashamed to ask his parents for money, so he opted to sell the gift instead.

"I had a lot of worries because it was the end of the year. During times like that, I often went shopping and bought things I wanted to solve my concerns.

However, I could not ask my parents for money. That is why I could not think straight and acted recklessly. I am so sorry."

Internet Users React to MIRAE Jang Yubin Selling Gifts From Fans

After the post went viral, internet users expressed their shock and disappointment at Jang Yubin's action. They were surprised he did that just because he wanted to go shopping, and they sympathized with the disappointed fan. However, others criticized A, saying the idol had already apologized and it was unnecessary to put him on blast.

Some comments read:

  • "I am shocked that it was not because he could not afford living expenses, but because he wanted to have fun shopping."
  • "I feel so bad for the fan who bought him the gifts."
  • "He is the worst. If he was going to do that, he should not have gotten caught."
  • "I understand that, as a fan, you are upset. However, you already received an apology. Why are you posting this?"
