Asian-American TikToker Slams K-Pop Fans, Claiming They Have 'Mental Disease'
Earlier this month (January 2024), the Under the Influence Show TikTok account shared a snippet from their podcast. During the episode, influencer Viet Trap went all out, slandering K-pop fans.
In the past, Viet Trap talked about how, when he first started receiving attention on the platform, his initial audience was comprised of K-pop fans. However, as a hater of stan culture and "delusional K-pop fans," he has consistently made negative comments about K-pop fans and even fights with them in his comment section.
All in all, he hates K-pop fans who believe their idols actually love them, when the idols do not even know they exist.

For a straight year, he made negative comments about K-pop fans to remove them from his fanbase. After a period of not fighting K-pop fans, he made a TikTok claiming K-pop fans have "mental disease" and urged them to get a job instead of making TikTok edits.

e reiterated his views again on the Under the Influence Show. On top of mentioning his distaste for K-pop fans, he called out BTS's supporters directly, saying, "f**k ARMYs."

Though his co-hosts tried to distance themselves from his views, they did agree that some K-pop fans are delusional. They also added that they have no hate for the idols themselves, as they are simply doing their jobs.
TikToker Slammed for Dissing K-Pop Fans and Saying They Have 'Mental Disease'
Following the TikTok, many slammed Viet Rap for his overgeneralization of the K-pop fan community. While they acknowledged that some became obsessive, the majority of K-pop fans simply liked the music.
Therefore, they believed Viet Trap was "reaching" when saying K-pop fans have "mental disease."
They also slammed the influencer for his insensitivity, as he himself has talked about his struggles with his mental health.
People also noted that Viet Trap was wearing a football jersey during his K-pop rant. They found this ironic, as there have been several instances of football and sports fans turning violent after matches where their favorite teams lost.
Some comments read:
- "What is bro talking about?"
- "It's just music. Who hurt you?"
- "'I hate stan culture!' says the guy wearing a football jersey."
- "Being this pressed about something that has nothing to do with you is kind of crazy."
- "If you want to talk about toxic fandoms and stands, look into sports fans."
- "I don't disagree that there is a line that a lot of K-pop stands for, but this guy has a weird sense of moral superiority that I hate."
