IU's Experience Being Booed At During Her Debut Stage
This is not the first time IU has spoken about being booed at. In 2011, IU appeared on the SBS program "Strong Heart" and spoke about the heartbreaking moment.
She revealed that when she performed her debut stage, it was during a time when a lot of boy groups were promoting their songs. With that, most of the fans at the venue were girls wanting to support their idols. The moment she stepped on stage and sang her first line, she heard someone curse at her.
IU recalled hearing someone say, "Hey, did she practice before coming out?" Since IU was singing a ballad, she could hear everything the crowd was saying.

One person started cursing at her, and soon the crowd joined in. One of them even called IU "you pig!"
IU revealed that at that moment, she lost all hope. However, now it is a memory that became "like medicine" for her later.
"I felt like those three minutes of me singing were too long. I felt like I had lost all hope. Now, I get excited even if there is just a little cheering in the crowd. It was a stage that became medicine for me later."
