Following her "Marry My Husband" appearance, "K-pop Queen" BoA coolly responded to viewers' hateful comments.
The K-pop icon-turned-actress has been gaining interest from both music and drama fans for her appearance in the ongoing hit drama, "Marry My Husband."
However, she drew mixed reactions to her acting skills and alleged "unrecognizable" visuals, and blamed her for the slight decline of rating.
BoA Addresses Lip Fillers & Visual Change Accusations
On February 7, BoA took the time to communicate with her fans, Jumping BoAs, by hosting a live broadcast through her personal SNS. She updated her supporters about her recent status, and hinted at a pictorial she just finished filming for.
During the broadcast, she also talked about the drama she is appearing in.
BoA joined the tvN's Monday-Tuesday drama, "Marry My Husband," as Yoo Ji Hyuk's (Na In Woo) ex-fiancee, Oh Yura, and her participation immediately sparked a heated response from viewers. There were also malicious comments about BoA's appearance.
The icon herself eventually explained it live.

BoA started:
"I think a lot of people are interested in my appearance these days."
She then explained:
"Over lips? Oh actually, I have a little habit of doing this (biting) to my lips. That's why it must have spread (to the lip area) at the time. A lot of people are worried about my lips, but aren't they normal? You don't have to worry. My lips are fine."
Upon addressing the issue over her visuals, BoA also indirectly responded to those criticizing her role as a villain in the show.
When someone wrote that she's a "bad unnie," BoA replied:
"(Kang Ji Won and Yoo Ji Hyuk) Aren't they so pretty? The story will unfold in the future, but while filming, I was wondering why I was here when I let them love each other. But isn't this a drama? A villain is supposed to grow up after being criticized.
I expected it (being criticized). Oh Yura shouldn't be nice in the first place. I had fun filming, and I worked really hard while having a hard time on a really cold day.
I watched the previous episode as a viewer and (after that) I received a text message from my colleagues and juniors, saying, 'Please go away, let them fall in love.' I really wanted to do that as well."
K-Netz React to BoA Defending Herself from Hateful Comments
Upon the live broadcast, BoA's remark made it to the hot topic rankings of various online communities, with a lot of comments sympathizing and feeling apologetic for the idol-actress.
People also complained that she didn't deserve the harsh comments about her appearance, then praised her for taking it too kindly.
- "The hate was too severe, but honestly she wasn't that bad."
- "Her lip shape is so cute. Fxxk off, haters."
- "Honestly, there are a lot of areas she has to work with regarding her acting, but it's a different case when people are saying something about her looks. That's just hate."
