Top 3 'Super Rookies' Who Will Lead K-pop in 2024, According to Music Insiders

According to 27 experienced music insiders, THESE 3 rookie groups with their top-tier skills and performance are expected to lead K-pop in 2024.

On February 9, Sports Kyunghyang released an article featuring RIIZE, KISS OF LIFE, and TWS as the next-gen groups who are set to dominate the music scene this year.

In particular, the K-media outlet recently held a survey among 27 K-pop reporters, music critics, and K-pop agency officials, under the theme, "Who will be the 'super rookies' to lead K-pop in 2024?"

They were asked to choose their top 3 among current artists and as a result, the aforementioned three groups reigned, and below are the music insiders' explanations of choosing them.

RIIZE Crowned #1 'Super Rookies' To Lead K-pop in 2024

Among numerous K-pop artists, SM Entertainment's new boy group RIIZE received a total of 20 votes from music insiders. Impressively, 14 out of 27 music officials selected them as their No. 1 pick, providing overwhelming support.

RIIZE, comprised of seven members debuted in September 2023 with their hit track, "Get a Guitar." Their popularity continued with "Talk Saxy" and "Love 119."

Officials shared reasons for choosing the group, saying:

  • "It has shown that they can play various genres, from easy listening to SM's colors."
  • "A team that integrates all of SM's technologies."
  • "(RIIZE) has good marketing that accurately utilizes the members and understands the K-pop fans' needs."
  • “From visuals to music, it will be a new version of K-pop idol style and will serve as a reference for idols who will debut in the future.”
  • “They have secured unprecedented popularity among new boy groups.”

KISS OF LIFE, TWS Rank Nos. 2 and 3 'Super Rookies' Who Will Lead K-pop in 2024

Following RIIZE, KISS OF LIFE (KIOF) followed in second place with 14 votes. They showcased their rising fame as the only girl group in the top 3.

Since debut in July last year, KIOF proved their power despite coming from a small/medium-sized label with their viral songs, "Nobody Knows," "Sugarcoat," and "Bad News."

Officials also praised the high level of vocals and performance, saying,

  • "They had a steep rise even though they are not from a large agency."
  • "Solid skills and ability to digest various concepts."
  • "Word of mouth is fast in the community and SNS, and a solid niche fandom is expected with differentiated colors is expected."
  • "Natty's short-form videos are emerging hot topics among the MZ generation."

Lastly, TWS, Pledis Entertainment's new boy group, is also showing their impressive skills and potential, freeing themselves from the title, "SEVENTEEN's younger brother."

Since their debut with "Plot Twist," TWS has risen in major music charts such as MelOn, Korean Spotify, and Apple Music, etc.
