SEVENTEEN's leader S.Coups has now been exempted from his military service.

Read more details below.

SEVENTEEN S Coups' Military Service Cancelled Due to Torn Ligament

On March 1, PLEDIS Entertainment released an official statement announcing S.Coups' exemption from military service.

According to the agency, the reason for the exclusion was due to the idol's anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee joint, which was operated through reconstruction surgeries.

PLEDIS then shared that S.Coups had been going through physical rehabilitation therapy for a while now since the surgery in 2023.

"S.Coups underwent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery, as well as anterolateral ligament reconstruction surgery due to a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in the joint of his left knee."

"Because the reconstruction was a major surgery, S.Coups has been undergoing rehabilitation treatment for a long time since 2023."

PLEDIS followed up that S.Coups was classified as a fifth grade.

Korean news outlets also shared that the conscription system of South Korea considers Grade 5 individuals exempted from military service. During cases of wartime, Grade 5 individuals are required to perform labor-related work to support the military.

Regarding SEVENTEEN's upcoming schedules, PLEDIS shared that the group's comeback schedule will be announced at a separate time. This brief statement is a direct response to the rumors of SEVENTEEN making an April comeback.

"The specific comeback schedule will be officially announced at a later date," it stated.

S.Coups suffered the injuries back on August 10, 2023, during a baseball game for a content shoot.

Here's how they reacted:

  • "So he won't even be able to dance in the future?"
  • "I heard that exemption from military service is really not easy, but if he's really exempted, he won't even be able to dance at all?"
  • "What is he going to do? This will last a lifetime aren't there a ton of aftereffects?"
  • "It must be really bad that he had to be exempted."
  • "So he won't be able to dance anymore? SEVENTEEN's choreographies are all so extreme."
  • "SEVENTEEN is known for their intense choreographies, and he's getting exempted? So is he still able to dance?? It looks severe."
  • "Whether he's going to enlist or not, I'm worried, looks like he really hurt himself badly."
  • "Wow to the point of getting exempted. Will he be okay?"
  • "Nowadays it's so hard to be exempted. This must be bad."
  • "I bet he's the most upset in this."
