K-pop fans expressed disappointment at LE SSERAFIM Yunjin after she was spotted drinking Starbucks coffee...AGAIN.
But why are people furious
On March 9, the K-pop girl group joined IU's H.E.R. concert in Seoul as its guests. While K-pop fans were delighted to see their presence, Yunjin surprisingly suffered criticism as she was seen drinking Starbucks coffee on their way to the venue.
As this happened amid boycott, she met people's frustration as this is not even the first time she did this.
Yunjin Criticized for Being 'Hypocrite' After Idol Was Seen Drinking Starbucks Coffee
K-pop fans on the X platform were dismayed by Yunjin since Starbucks is currently being boycotted as one of the companies said to be funding Israel's genocide in Gaza.
People pointed out that her supporters can't defend her by using the excuse of not knowing this movement, since aside from being chronically online, Yunjin in the past was initially caught deleting her post about Starbucks after numerous K-pop idols were called out for it.
However, fans were just made aware by her unintentionally that she's still supporting the brand and netizens were calling her "hypocrite." This is after earlier, Yunjin was cheered on by K-pop fans for supporting feminism and her remark of wanting to "change the idol industry."
On the X platform, posts about her drinking Starbucks went viral among fans and most of them were extremely disappointed of her.
FEARNOTs Defend LE SSERAFIM Yunjin from Hateful Comments
With the increasing backlash she's getting, LE SSERAFIM Yunjin's supporters especially FEARNOTs (fandom) jumped to her defense from rude and malicious comments.
According to her fans, the posts were created to promote hate culture, emphasizing how Yunjin was being called names and receiving hateful comments rather than constructive criticism.
Also, fans claimed that Starbucks isn't on the list of the BDS movement and went on by highlighting proofs that the company is not funding Israel.
Fans also find it unfair that Yunjin was being persecuted while some idols can still freely drink Starbucks without receiving the same level of hate and criticism.
