HyunA Spotted On Date With Controversial Boyfriend Yong Junhyung in Thailand

On March 11, 2024, foreign media outlet ET Today reported that HyunA and Yong Junhyung were together in Thailand.

The released image showcases HyuAa and Yong Junhyung enjoying a cozy date in casual clothing, both opting not to cover their faces. HyunA exudes a sweet aura, displaying natural affection by resting her hand on Junhyung's shoulder.

In addition to the photo, a brief video of the couple surfaced on an online community along with the message, "I happened to spot Hyuna and Yong Junhyung. I was too nervous to ask for a photo."

Earlier in February, reports emerged of the two enjoying a casual outing at a department store in Gangnam, Seoul. Witnesses noted that they strolled around the store comfortably, unaffected by onlookers, and left hand in hand.

This relaxed demeanor suggests a genuine bond between the two, free from the constraints of public scrutiny. Their carefree interactions and shared moments hint at a comfortable and affectionate relationship.

HyunA Garners Backlash for Relationship With Yong Junhyung

Despite their calm demeanor as they date publicly, it has not been smooth sailing. Since the moment they announced their relationship, HyunA and Yong Junhyung have garnered immense backlash. HyunA in particular, has received tremendous amounts of hate.

On January 18, HyunA shocked the internet by sharing a backshot of her walking hand-in-hand with a man. In the tags, it was revealed she was with former HIGHLIGHT member Yong Junhyung. That same day, the former idol shared the same photo on his Instagram account.

Many were unhappy with the relationship, and that is due to Yong Junhyung's controversial past.

In 2019, he became embroiled in the Burning Sun scandal amidst allegations of his involvement in Jung Joon Young's Kakao Talk group chat room. This chat room was notorious for sharing inappropriate conversations and videos.

Jung Joon Young, the primary figure in the scandal, received a five-year prison sentence for illicitly filming intoxicated women and committing sexual assault. His scheduled release from prison is in March.

Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that Yong Junhyung was not a participant in the controversial group chat. However, he faced criticism after admitting to sharing illegal videos from Jung Joon Young and engaging in inappropriate messaging.

Subsequently, Yong Junhyung departed from HIGHLIGHT in the same year.

As HyunA has consistently championed for women's rights during her career, people thought her choice to date Yong Junhyung went against everything she advocated for. As countless women were victims of the illegal videos, many criticized HyunA for dating a man who ruined women's lives.
