K-Media Outlet Names 3 K-Pop Idols Who Cause Trouble For Their Groups Even After Leaving — Who Are They?

Korean media outlet Daum News has named three K-pop idols who continue to cause trouble for their groups even after they left. Keep on reading to discover who they are.

In K-pop, it is not uncommon for a member to leave the group if they have been embroiled in controversies. Fans have seen their favorite idols leave their groups due to slanderous rumors, such as Soojin, who used to be from (G)I-DLE. Currently, TEMPEST's Hwarang's status in the group is uncertain following his clubbing controversy.

While this is done to preserve the image of the group, sometimes the actions they take after leaving still cause damage. Here are three idols who, unfortunately, still harm their group even after leaving.

1. JinE (formerly of Oh My Girl)

In February, news of aespa Karina and Lee Jae Wook dating was confirmed. After the news broke out, JinE took to her Instagram Story to share a photo of herself and a caption that read, "Karina Karina Karina, what a mess."

At the time, JinE was slammed for mocking Karina amid the dating news. People also criticized her for being reckless, stating that her actions crossed the line even if she debuted before Karina. Following the backlash, JinE shared a short apology on her Instagram Story, saying she posted without thinking due to the disappointment she felt, as Karina is her favorite aespa member.

On March 14, she posted another apology, saying the intent of her post was lost because of her poor word choice. She made her post, hoping people would stop spreading chaos due to Karina's dating news. She apologized for her post once again.

Though she apologized, the public's reaction remains divided.

Many claimed her rash actions harmed her former group, Oh My Girl, especially since YooA is making a comeback on the 14th. People are saying her controversy has overshadowed news of the Oh My Girl member's release.

2. Yong Junhyung (formerly of HIGHLIGHT)

On February 11, 2024, HIGHLIGHT made a comeback to celebrate their 11th anniversary. However, on that same day, HyunA shared a post of her holding hands with Yong Junghyung, a former HIGHLIGHT member, while on an overseas date. The two later confirmed that they were dating.

Yong Junhyung left HIGHLIGHT after he confessed to being part of Jung Joonyoung's illegal chat rooms, where he watched illegally taken videos of women being sexually harassed. The fact that news of him dating top-star HyunA broke out on the same day as HIGHLIGHT's comeback left a sour taste in people's mouths.

Yong Junhyung dating publicly on a day meant for HIGHLIGHT has angered fans, who believe he should have kept his dating life private.

3. Seungri (formerly of BIGBANG)

Ever since he was identified as the main figure in the 2019 Burning Sun scandal, Seungri has been absent from the entertainment industry and is no longer part of a BIGBANG.

Accused of various crimes, including solicitation of prostitution, sex trafficking, and violations of laws related to gambling, foreign exchange transactions, food hygiene, embezzlement, and aggravated punishment for specific economic crimes, Seungri faced trial on a total of nine charges. Following a lengthy trial, he was sentenced to a year and six months in prison by the Supreme Court and was released last year after serving his sentence.

Despite his reputation as a sex offender, Seungi continues to stir up controversies that tarnish BIGBANG's reputation. Seungi was spotted in clubs, overseas birthday parties, and more, which has left many to believe he has not learned from his mistakes.

Furthermore, his boastful remarks such as "I'll bring G-Dragon" to an overseas event and his attempts to exploit the BIGBANG brand have angered fans.
