During a recent live stream, RIIZE's Shotaro issued a sincere apology following his com-member's dating rumors. Keep on reading for all the details.
On March 13, 2024, RIIZE held a live stream on Weverse with the group's current line-up of six members. During the live stream, the members acknowledged the controversy Anton and Eunseok are in now.
Anton issued an apology to his fans, who were left confused and upset by the incident. He stated that he hoped things would be cleared up soon, as the stories that are being spread at the moment are different from the truth.
Eunseok showed his strong side, stating that he hopes BRIIZE's continues to trust in him, as he did not do anything that would cause the fans to worry. He then expressed his gratitude to the fans and apologized for making them worry.
Besides their apologies, Shotaro's apology drew the attention of the public.
RIIZE Shotaro Issues Sincere Apology Following Member's Dating Scandal
For a short period in the live stream, the members deviated away from the dating rumors and discussed their upcoming concert schedules. Before the live stream ended, however, Shotaro turned to the camera with a serious expression and stated that there was something serious he wanted to talk about.
He apologized to the fans for making them worry and expressed his gratitude to the fans who continue to trust and support RIIZE. Shotaro then revealed how strong the brotherhood is between RIIZE, and their passion as a group has not changed.
"I deeply apologize for causing concern among our fans, who wholeheartedly support us. We are sincerely grateful to the fans who continue to trust and stand by us. Please believe in us and our unity as a team, which is stronger than you may realize. Our commitment to moving forward together, made at the beginning of our debut, remains unchanged. Please continue to place your trust in us. We will continue to strive and show you new, dedicated efforts."
RIIZE Shotaro Earns Praise For Apology
As the oldest of the group, Shotaro's apology helped ease the hearts of BRIIZEs.
However, there were some who wondered why Shotaro, who is not at the center of any controversy, felt the need to apologize so sincerely. Many expressed how they pitied Shotaro, as RIIZE is his second debut.
Many wondered if RIIZE should appoint Shotaro as their leader, as he showcases strong morale and leadership skills. Currently, RIIZE is one of the groups, like BLACKPINK, NewJeans, and ONEUS, that promotes without having a leader.
Popular culture critic Kim Heonsik weighed in on Shotaro's apology, suggesting the need to examine whether it was made voluntarily or if he was forced to. He emphasized that regardless of age or leadership status, taking responsibility for the group's issues could be viewed positively by the public. However, he also cautioned against attributing all responsibilities to the eldest member, as this could lead to reverse discrimination.
Given Shotaro's re-debut with RIIZE after leaving NCT, fans expressed a range of concerns, further complicating the situation. Kim pointed out the potential for an "underdog effect," where there might be both positive and negative consequences. While there could be appreciation for such gestures from the oldest member, there's also the risk of undue burden placed solely on them for apologies and accountability.
