NCT Dream Renjun Defends Chaemin After Facing Backlash for Cutting Off Idol on 'Music Bank'

After the backlash that "Music Bank" MC Chaemin faced for cutting off NCT Renjun's speech, the latter has finally addressed the controversy.

On April 5, the KBS music show "Music Bank" announced NCT Dream, who made a comeback with "Smoothie" on March 25, as the first-place winner.

However, fans' delight became anger when an unfortunate mistake happened while member Renjun was giving his speech. This was later on blamed to MC Lee Chaemin.

'Music Bank' MC Chaemin Under Fire For 'Cutting Off' NCT Dream Renjun's Speech

The incident happened when the boy group was given the time to give their acceptance speech. During this part, NCT Dream thanked everyone who supported them, especially NCTzens.

Just when Renjun was given the mic to briefly express his gratitude, MC Chaemin cut him off and proceeded on giving the program's ending ment.

At the time, NCT Dream members were visibly surprised, but they remained professional as Renjun, until the end of the show, wasn't able to continue his speech anymore.

Following this mistake, NCTzens called out Lee Chaemin for being "rude" to Renjun. While fans understood that the MC had to give the ending ment already as they were running out of time, they emphasized that he could have made it up to the idol by letting him continue even one sentence.

What disappointed fans was that he didn't even apologize to Renjun on the spot, leaving the idol in that embarrassing moment.

NCT Dream Renjun Addresses Controversy of Being Cut Off by Lee Chaemin

Apparently, not only NCTzens were offended, but even NCT Dream members weren't happy about it.

During the group's Weverse Live on the 7th, the members recalled the time when Renjun was cut off on "Music Bank." Their tones made the topic lighthearted, but their facial expressions gave the atmosphere that they were also disappointed about it.

Hearing this, Renjun revealed that they already clarified the issue and Chaemin apologized to him.

The idol narrated that after what happened, Renjun confronted Chaemin, who turned out to be his friend, and asked why he cut him off.

Chaemin then explained that it was because only two members could give a speech and apologize to the idol.

As they were friends, Renjun decided to settle it by asking the MC and actor to treat him to a meal instead, and the latter agreed.
