On April 10, the 2024 Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) crowned TWICE Jihyo as "Best Female Solo," with her debut album "ZONE" released on August 2023.

While ONCEs (fandom) rejoiced with this new feat achieved by the soloist, BLINKs (BLACKPINK fandom) expressed their dissatisfaction over the result, claiming that the winner should be Jisoo.

After the announcement, an overwhelming number of BLINKs called out the result, questioning how Jihyo won over Jisoo.

Based on the awards ceremony's criteria, the winner would be based on votes (40%), album sales and digital (30%), and judges' votes (30%).

Thus, Jisoo's supporters said that the idol should be the winner if it would be based on her previous records.

Among best-selling female soloists on Hanteo in 2023, Jisoo ranked 2nd place with 1.35 million sold copies, while Jihyo ranked 8th place with 548.6k album copies.

Based on digital performance, Jisoo has 3.9 million monthly listeners, while Jihyo has 2 million.

In a post, BLINKs also claimed that the "Flower" singer won the voting, which is 40% of the criteria. With this, the fandom claimed that Jisoo should have won with 70%, regardless of whether the judges gave the 30% to TWICE's main vocalist.

Since then, the accusations that the awards ceremony was rigged arose, calling out the organizer of the new event. Some BLINKs also implied that JYP Entertainment has something to do with it and accused the label of paying the event to give the trophy to Jihyo.

ONCEs Defend TWICE Jihyo from 'Rigged' Results Accusations

Amid these claims, ONCEs are defending TWICE Jihyo and criticized the fandom questioning the result.

They went on by clarifying that Jihyo was the one who won in the voting and even if she didn't get the 30% album sales and digitals, she would have been the judges' pick, leading her to win the trophy.

ONCEs also dissed BLINKs stating that the awards ceremony most likely selected a winner with "talent" rather than based on sales performance and popularity only.
