INFINITE leader Sunggyu was roasted for his looks that aren't "idol-like," and was even teased to quit his job. Following this, Inspirits expressed their anger online.
TV Show Makes Fun of INFINITE Sunggyu's Visuals: 'It's Time For You to Quit Being Idol'
On April 16, the second-gen group leader made an appearance on SBS's reality show, "Dolsing Fourmen."
In particular, the show is hosted by divorced men looking for happiness. They invite guests to their homes and discuss topics of marriage, relationships, and careers.
However, rather than the aforementioned subject matters, INFINITE Sunggyu became the center of mockery instead when the MCs poked fun at his visuals, "shying away" from the idol beauty standards.
The roasting of the idol's face started when host Lee Sang Min asked Sunggyu about the origin of his nickname, "comb-patterned earthenware."
Looking at the item being compared to him, Sunggyu then explained that it could be because of his slim jawline.

With just this, viewers were confused if this topic was relevant to the show but it became worse when the discussion about his visuals went on.
While other MCs were being complimentary, some of the hosts threw below-the-belt jokes, to the point that they "jokingly" urged Sunggyu to quit being an idol because of his looks.
Lee Sang Min said:
"So, do you agree that you don't exactly have the most idol-like visuals?"
When Sunggyu agreed and was about to explain, Tak Jae Hoon cut him off.
"So then, why do you keep pretending to be an idol?"
While laughing, Sunggyu acknowledged that his visuals aren't something that will pop into fans' minds when thinking about K-pop idols. Rather, he mentioned Cha Eun Woo as an example.
Just then, Lim Won Hee didn't agree to this and praised Sunggyu for his charms.
"The more we see you, the more we like you."
Sunggyu kept his humility, then talked about the changing standards in the current K-pop era.
"I think it has to do with how times have changed. Now, K-pop idols can look like me… You know? Have small eyes with monolids like mine, too…"
Hearing his serious explanation, Tak Jae Hoon blurted:
"If you have to explain yourself like this every time, isn't time for you to quit being an idol? No?"
INSPIRITs Demand DHtne To Be Responsible for 'Humiliation' Sunggyu Experienced on TV
When the broadcast was uploaded, netters especially INSPIRITs (INFINITE fandom), were vexed with the show making fun of the K-pop idol.
After all, he was there to promote his musical and other activities, but he wasn't even able to talk about these because they were busy making fun of his looks.
Now, INSPIRITs are calling out DHtne, Sunggyu's agency, to be responsible for the offensive remarks the idol suffered from the show.
INSPIRITs added that the unnecesarry derision made by the hosts gave haters a platform and more reason for their contempt against the 2nd-gen celebrity.
Fans highlighted that Sunggyu didn't undergo all hardships to create his name as a top-tier idol only to be labeled as someone who doesn't have "idol-like visuals" despite his impressive records as a top vocalist, actor, and musical star.
