When K-pop fans saw the reported lineup of artists for Mnet's "Road to Kingdom 2," a lot expressed frustration after seeing THIS popular boy group included in the roster of participants.
'Road to Kingdom' Reported Full Lineup Spread Online
On April 24, it was reported that Mnet's K-pop group survival show, "Road to Kingdom" will return with its second season!
Based on the broadcast system, the program will be aired in the second half of 2024. Further details will be revealed after finalization of the planning and preparation process including the show's official title & broadcast date.
For those who are not aware of the show, "Road to Kingdom" is the male spin-off of its original group competition show, "Queendom," participated by female acts and soloists. The boy counterpart was aired in 2020.
At the time, it was participated by lesser-known but rising boy groups including PENTAGON, ONF, Golden Child, THE BOYZ, VERIVERY, ONEUS and TO1.
The aim of the show is to give the "underrated" teams a platform to raise their popularity by participating in various missions each week.
THE BOYZ who won the competition then advanced to "Kingdom: Legendary War," which is a match between famous boy groups including BTOB, iKON, SF9, Stray Kids and ATEEZ.
This time, another boy group will be given a chance to join "Kingdom 2" by first securing their spot through "Road to Kingdom 2."
Based on reports, ATBO, 8TURN, THE NEW SIX, xikers, YOUNITE and CRAVITY will be the groups competing this second season, raising excitement among K-pop fans.
K-pop Fans Express Frustration After CRAVITY Is Included in 'Road to Kingdom 2'
While the fans of the aforementioned boy groups were delighted by the news, a lot raised their brows after seeing a popular boy group in the lineup — which is none other than CRAVITY.
Since the show is for "unknown" groups, netters especially LUVITY (CRAVITY fans) were confused if there was a need for the act to join the survival show when they already have established fandom and popularity.
In fact, internet users also pointed out that CRAVITY is not even in the same category as the other groups since they already got numerous first-place trophies from music shows, while the others are yet to cement their name in the K-pop scene.
With their fanbase, web users are already predicting that they will win, thus, it would be unfair for the other groups to compete with their seniors. Rather, they would like to see CRAVITY compete in the "Kingdom 2," the program for already popular groups.
It would also be unfair for CRAVITY, who have to undergo the stress of having to compete every week, instead of resting amid their busy schedules.
LUVITYs are conveying their frustrations to Starship Entertainment for sending the group to the survival show, instead of doing their way to properly give CRAVITY their well-deserved promotions.
