San E and MC Mong Clash Over Unpaid Royalties — Who Gets BE'O's Bucks?

Rapper San E and singer MC Mong find themselves embroiled in a heated dispute over unpaid royalties concerning singer BE'O amid the transition between agencies.

The clash comes amidst conflicting claims from both sides, raising questions about fair compensation during BE'O's move from San E's FameUs Entertainment to MC Mong's Big Planet Made.

On May 14 KST, Big Planet Made, MC Mong's agency, made a statement.

"San E terminated his exclusive contract with BE'O, transferring the neighboring rights related to BE'O to Big Planet Made for a one-time payment of 209 million won."

This claim suggests that legally, BE'O would belong to Big Planet Made, thereby justifying San E's obligation to settle profits earned during BE'O's tenure under FameUs Entertainment.

As of the morning of May 15 KST, San E has yet to respond regarding the receipt of the alleged payment.

However, San E took to his social media on May 14 KST to share a screenshot of a direct message (DM) purportedly sent by MC Mong in the past.

"You crossed the line with BE'O" and threatened, "I will sue you from the Fair Trade Commission to the National Tax Service." - San E

According to the screenshot, MC Mong accused San E of crossing the line with BE'O and threatened legal action, including involvement from the Fair Trade Commission and the National Tax Service.

Allegations were also made about San E conspiring with others and threatening BE'O with recorded voice messages.

San E countered some claims.

"After three years of investment, successful re-signing, and improved conditions, BE'O's mother demanded contract termination, citing schedule breaches, and denied contacting other agencies." - San E

In response, Big Planet Made accused San E of avoiding discussions about unpaid royalties while engaging in personal attacks against BE'O and MC Mong.

They emphasized San E's delay in sharing profits from the exclusive contract with BE'O despite profiting from transferring neighboring rights related to the artist.

Big Planet Made concluded by stating their firm intention to address what they perceive as San E's attempt to obscure the legal issues surrounding unpaid royalties.

"While San E avoids mentioning unpaid royalties, he continues with personal attacks against BE'O and MC Mong, Despite profiting heavily from transferring neighboring rights related to BE'O, San E has been delaying his obligation to share profits from the exclusive contract with BE'O. We firmly intend to address San E's attempt to cover up the legal issues regarding unpaid royalties through an unwarranted disclosure, after pocketing 209 million won." - Big Planet

The conflict between San E and MC Mong highlights the complexities and disputes often involved in the entertainment industry, particularly concerning contractual obligations and financial arrangements.

As the situation unfolds, stakeholders await further developments and potential resolutions to the ongoing dispute.
