Girls' Generation member Tiffany revealed she almost didn't debut in the group. However, something saved her spot in the group.
On May 15, 2024, Tiffany appeared on the latest episode of MBC's "Radio Star." During the show, she talked about her blooming acting career, the treatment she received from her former agency, SM Entertainment, and her life as an idol back in the day.
There, she revealed she almost didn't debut with Girls' Generation.
While they were still training and preparing to debut, Girls' Generation's line-up consisted of 12 members. Of course, that line-up was never final and was revised several times before the girl group debuted with nine members: Sunny, Yuri, Sooyoung, Seohyun, Taeyeon, Yuri, Hyoyeon, Jessica, and Tiffany.
However, it was now revealed that she almost didn't debut. During her appearance on the show, Tiffany was one of the members with the shortest training time. Once preparations became serious, a staff member told her she might not make her debut and asked if she was ready to go home.
It was SM Entertainment's founder, Lee Soo Man, who saved Tiffany. He stated that Tiffany had to debut as a member of the group because her smile on camera was one of the group's biggest advantages. According to Lee Soo Man, her smile gave off a good energy.
Tiffany recalled that when she debuted, people would say that they became a fan of Girls' Generation because of Tiffany after seeing her smile in the group's debut music video, "Into the New World."
