Following her recent controversial remark, LE SSERAFIM Eunchae became a meme among Korean university students to ridicule the idol.
In an online community, a banner photo hung around the school by the Korea University cheering squad became a hot topic among K-netizens.
In particular, the banner stood out due to its catchy phrase that says:
"Korea University students, you're attending Songdo in your freshman year, right? It must be tough!"
It is an unconventional way to cheer up students that was already eye-catching enough, but it sparked even more attention after realizing that it was actually a parody of Eunchae's controversial statement about students in the past.
In March last year, the idol earned the ire of Korean students after she opened up about school-related matters, saying:
"You all are attending schools, right? That must be tough. It's so tough, I also know what it's like. I also had to wake up at 7."

At first, it seemed like she was empathizing with Korean students, but her condescending tone and "cute" acts accompanied by laughter while making this remark didn't sit well with them.
While many defended Eunchae and explained that she must have said it impulsively, students found her nuance and attitude belittling and ridiculing.
What made students angry was the fact that Eunchae isn't even attending school due to her busy schedule as an idol. Thus, university students vented that she wouldn't understand what it's like because she's not a full-time student.
Other than this, Eunchae in September last year once again triggered students after questioning the need to go study at a school.
As a result, Koreans mocked Eunchae by turning her into a meme, and some students ridiculed her for being "uneducated" and for living an "easy" life.
Students explained that while she was making money with her "subpar" skills as an idol, they had to attend school every day, pass exams and battle against the tough competition to land a proper job offer after graduation.
They also brought back the young idol's performance at the Coachella 2024 and criticized her that "it was absurd for someone who was not good at her job as a singer to mock the students."
Further, netizens continue to ridicule the idol as she has neither apologized nor taken any position on her related remarks.
- “Even if the camera is rolling, I can see how much she thinks about people on a regular basis."
- “Even people who aren’t seniors in high school get angry."
- "She's blatantly ridiculing students across the country.”
Meanwhile, Eunchae, born in 2006 (17 years old) debuted as the maknae of LE SSERAFIM in 2022. Her same-age friends are already seniors in high school and preparing for their college entrance exam, but Eunchae dropped out of high school to focus on her idol career.
