The recent collaboration between NewJeans and PUBG: Battlegrounds has taken an unfortunate turn, as some players have been dressing the NewJeans characters in provocative ways and making sexual harassment posts.
This issue was highlighted by a netizen on Nate Pann, sparking widespread condemnation and frustration among K-netizens.
Netizens expressed their anger and disappointment over the situation:
- -"People are saying the same thing in the comments, ‘What? Isn't ADOR crazy?'. It was surprising but then more female characters based on female idols are still being released because the agencies' CEOs are just stupid. LE SSERAFIM also came out as Sudden Attack characters."
- "Community users should be filtered out, especially those from DC and FMKorea."
- "This is clearly sexual harassment. Aren't they crazy? How could they make posts like that?"
- "Don't show sexual harassment content here. Take it down. Don't try to get attention."
- "Wow, I bought many characters including Son Heung-min, Ma Dong-seok, Lee Jung-jae, BLACKPINK and NewJeans but never used them or thought about using them in that way. The posts are disgusting. What made them feel so proud about doing such things? Those people should just disappear. I'm not a fan of the group but this disgusts me."
Some netizens also criticized the fans for their perceived silence on the issue, suggesting that they were staying quiet to avoid harming the CEO:
"But the fans are not trying to protect NewJeans and just staying silent to avoid harming the CEO?"
In recent news, NewJeans' appearance on the KBS 2TV show "2 Days & 1 Night" (2D1N) led to the lowest ratings in the program's 17-year history, with only a 6.1% viewership, 1% lower than the previous week.
Despite high anticipation, the episode failed to attract the expected audience. Speculated reasons for the low ratings include viewer preference for the competing show "Running Man," internal conflicts within NewJeans' agency ADOR, and opinions that the group was "cute but not funny." Fans and viewers criticized the episode for lacking humor, contrasting with previous idol guest appearances that typically boosted ratings.
