The composite sketch of the suspect who broke into the late Hara's house circulated on the web, prompting netizens to accuse this idol.
After BBC's "Burning Sun" documentary revealed the huge contribution of the late Goo Hara in catching the perpetrators behind the controversial Kakao Talk group chat led by Jung Joon Young, the recent theft case that happened in the former idol's house has claimed the spotlight.
On June 23, SBS's "Unanswered Question" released an episode featuring the case that remained unsolved 4 years after it happened in 2020.
In particular, after Hara passed away, a man stole her safe inside her dressing room, leaving other valuables untouched. At the time, the only piece of evidence was CCTV footage that barely captured the appearance of the suspect.
On the show then, SBS released a composite sketch of the man and described him to be tall and of sturdy build, having a long chin, prominent cheekbones, and estimated to be in her late 20s to early to mid-30s.
Following the broadcast, an overwhelming number of Korean netizens are mentioning just one K-pop idol, and it is Block B Zico.
Looking at his morphed photos with the suspect's sketch, netters insisted that Zico matches the height and physical appearance description mentioned in the report.
While many could have the same build as Zico, people still suspect that he has a greater intention to do it as his name is mentioned in Jung Joon Young's case.
During the "Burning Sun" investigation, Zico's name arose after netizens revisited his interview in 2016 where he mentioned that Jung Joon Young had a "golden phone" used solely for Kakao Talk and Jung confirmed this, adding that the male idol would spend his time scrolling through that phone.
As the Kakao Talk GC of Jung was revealed to have been used for sharing "molkas" (private videos) of their sexual assault victims, internet users back then accused Zico of being aware of this yet remained silent through those times.
Netizens are then flooding Zico's Instagram with malicious comments, urging him to speak up and deny he's not the person in the CCTV. People also want him to talk more about the "golden phone" and prove that he's not in any way related to the case.
Meanwhile, fans still came to Zico's defense.
- "No one can tell that it is Zico."
- "Please think about why Zico would do such a thing."
- "I am tired of accusing people without any real evidence."
- "Anyone who thinks it's Zico should be sent to a mental hospital."
