BLACKPINK Jennie gained divided opinions following a now-deleted video where she was allegedly captured smoking vape indoors.
Earlier on July 2, the official YouTube channel "Jennierubyjane Official," uploaded a new vlog of the global superstar titled, "A Moment in Capri with Jennie."
In the video, the female idol shared her trip to Capri for a three-day official event with the French luxury brand, Jacquemus.
Upon posting, the video amassed huge interest from K-pop fans especially BLINKs (fandom), admiring the idol's professionalism and work ethic despite lack of sleep & rest.
However, on X, Jennie belatedly went viral on July 8 after a snippet from the vlog was shared by a netizen, where she was seen doing her makeup and hairstyle.
While it appears to be a scene where one can admire Jennie's top-tier visuals, the netizen raised their concerns after smoke appeared to be coming out from her mouth.
They then claimed:
"Jennie smoking vape in her vlog."

The smoke could have been coming from somewhere, but the accusation got stronger after seeing her hold a dark-colored device to her lips before blowing the smoke. Another problem is that Jennie is allegedly doing it in front of her staff.
As of the writing, the video has over 9.4 million views with 20.3k likes and about 10k quotes. But upon checking in the official vlog, it has been removed already.
In the comment section and quote retweets, a lot of Jensetters and BLINKs defended Jennie, implying that she's already an adult who can vape.
this is a grown woman… she can do whatever she wants https://t.co/3cDSWx2Ncg

However, a lot of internet users explained that vaping is not their issue here but Jennie doing it indoors. In South Korea, indoor smoking is a serious offense may it be electronic or not.
In the past, EXO D.O. and NCT Haechan had to apologize and pay a fine after they were caught smoking indoors as well.
While there are netizens who justified that Jennie is not even in Korea, locals explained that it is also prohibited in Capri to smoke in an enclosed space.

I have no problem with jennie vaping, it's her choice, but at least don't vape around people who don't and indoor 😌

But her dvmb stans will defend her anyway.
I'm not talking about that. This user saying that " It's not just "Jennie vaping"; it's Jennie symbolizing female empowerment and taking control of her own life ." is totally wrong. Vaping in an indoor place is bad/ forbidden and disrespectful. So there is nothing empowering.

When the debate intensified, Jensetters then asked web commenters to refrain from making malicious accusations of Jennie smoking, as looking closely, the device that the idol is holding also resembles a diffuser.
It's not a secret that due to her busy schedule, Jennie has been experiencing health issues, thus, she's been using a diffuser for her breathing issues which also contains vitamins and other content beneficial for her health.
As of now, Jennie's label, ODD ATELIER has yet to make an official statement about this issue.
