(G)I-DLE Shuhua's Remark About 'Other Idols' Gets Criticized – Nevies Defend Star

On X, Shuhua garnered divided opinions after comparing (G)I-DLE to "other idols." Is it a joke or is she being "too confident"?

Earlier on July 8, (G)I-DLE released their 7th mini album, "I Sway" through various music sites at 6 PM KST. This drew great attention as this will be their first comeback in 6 months after its second full album, "2" dropped last January.

Another reason fans have much anticipation from it was because of the quintet's initial impressive feat of recording 4 consecutive "Perfect All-Kills" on the domestic music charts, starting with their hit, "TOMBOY" in 2022, followed by "NUDE," "Queencard" and "Fate."

With this, there is a large amount of expectation that they will go on a summer chart rampage and even surpass its preceding records with its new track, "KLAXON."

But to music fans' disappointment, the song, upon its release didn't draw as much support as they initially expected, and on Spotify, it even failed to enter the Daily Top Songs Global, as of July 10. 

Their poor performance in music charts and poor reception from music enthusiasts then sparked a heated discussion among netters, which led some fans to bring back Shuhua's initial remark during their comeback Livestream. 

In the snippet circulating in SNS, the (G)I-DLE members were talking about the song and went on to describe it as "addictive." They also expressed their desire for it to be a song that they will continuously listen to this summer. 

Hearing this, Shuhua added:

"Sorry to other idols."

Upon uploading it, the clip amassed over 3.6 million views, and a lot who watched this felt offended by the star's remark.

They mocked her for being "overly confident" and criticized her for trying to compete with other K-pop idols. Netters then called Shuhua out for being "talentless" and that she should be embarrassed for saying it. 

When the criticism intensified, Neverlands (fandom) then stepped up to defend the idol and explained that Shuhua was obviously just joking. Fans then raised concerns of a double standard, seeing her remark as a "threat" but implying that if male idols say it, they will treat it as "sassy" or "king behavior."

Nevies continued to call out internet users who were hating on Shuhua, expressing their "disgust" with how K-pop stans always want idols to be "real" and show their "honest" self, but if they do, people will only have negative to say about them. 

One of the idols who always suffered from malicious comments is Shuhua, who is known for her witty and straightforward personality.
