SEVENTEEN Woozi Defends Group From 'AI-Generated Lyrics' Claims + CARATs Praise Idol
Woozi has shared his take on the claims.
Earlier on July 10, BBC released an article titled, "Will K-pop's AI Experiment Pay Off?"
According to the piece, it raised speculations regarding the use of AI in SEVENTEEN's "MAESTRO," mentioning the MV's AI-generated scene and claimed that the album might have included AI-generated lyrics as well.
"The music video features an AI-generated scene and the record might well include AI-generated lyrics too," BBC shared.
How tf does she and bbc dares to post this?

What??? Maestro AI? Are they freaking joking??? Woozi is the most talented artist….. I can’t believe this. BBC SINCE GAZA WE REALLY STARTED TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF MEDIA YOU ARE#WOOZI #protectwoozi #APOLOGIZETOWOOZI #Gaza_life_matters pic.twitter.com/SvoGqEso1l
Many fans were quick to refute BBC's claims regarding SEVENTEEN's lyrics, as well as defended Woozi's integrity and contribution to the group music-wise.
19 years old Jihoon saved a whole ass company by writing and producing music and u still call it AI? I will never forgive bbc news and the toxic fandom that spread the misinfo. He worked for 10+ years just for people to discredit his work and hate on him. APOLOGIZE TO WOOZI ‼️ https://t.co/zSxR3AdFJM pic.twitter.com/S8ZqfCcs5Z
— wen 💎 (@Thir_teensvt) July 13, 2024Excuse you, BBC. You’re insinuating that SEVENTEEN/Woozi is “walking with AI”, which is false. They are actually GOING AGAINST AI. Woozi specifically said that they’ve checked out what AI can do so they can go against it and protect their own identity as a group. pic.twitter.com/Ycf5ISjudx

the whole BBC article accusing woozi of using ai and talking crap about their glastonbury performance seems like a parody of subpar journalism
— MI🪄 (@winsforsvt) July 13, 2024
i can't believe it's real, are they not even afraid of a lawsuit?
They used robot motion tech NOT generative AI. Woozi has also talked about experimenting with AI because he wanted to protect their own unique identity.
BBC you're literally out here spreading lies about Seventeen. https://t.co/NE8KgPRaKG pic.twitter.com/FEzNHwD1Jk— neev ✨ (@forsvtscoups) July 12, 2024
Woozi can play so many instruments why the hell would he even need an unalive ai to write musical notes for him?
— Rach_ (@vtaesgurl) July 14, 2024
Get your facts right, BBC. pic.twitter.com/NkIyKbU8jEThe articles is extremely MISLEADING. Firstly, you have twisted Woozi's words & inserted a different narrative to what was originally intended by SEVENTEEN regarding the usage of AI. Secondly, what is your source? Is it some random Twitter misinformation? Journalism bar is so LOW https://t.co/UoVrPIeRYU

Following the news, Woozi directly addressed the "AI" claims on his Instagram. On July 14, the idol posted a Story saying, "All of SEVENTEEN's music is written and composed by human creators," drawing attention among CARATs and the K-pop community.

Meanwhile, others called out PLEDIS Entertainment for its lack of presence during the issue and criticized the agency for leaving Woozi to handle the situation himself. The majority also had nothing but praise for Woozi due to his "King Behavior."
FREAKIN SHTTY A** COMPANY CAN'T EVEN DEFEND ITS ARTIST THAT HE HAD TO SPEAK UP FOR HIMSELF... @pledis17_STAFF @pledisnews https://t.co/X1xmcBcvKQ

hes mad as fuck …… how dare they discredit all his hard work like that nah https://t.co/j3gFID5XrQ
— raf (@kwonyves) July 15, 2024
It's ridiculous how an irresponsible and misleading article made woozi go online to clarify his and his group's years of hardwork and efforts. What the hell??? They deserve better. The author should be sued. https://t.co/4ZkXAdxto6

it's fucked up how bbc mislooked a simple but crucial detail -- svt has been making music by themselves long before the use of ai even existed. it's commonsense atp.
— j (@mingyeou_) July 14, 2024
plus it's like obvs maestro was svt making a commentary + taking a stance on the use of ai in kpop. https://t.co/SSlcEGYRd3
SAY IT LOUDER PRODUCER NIM!!! https://t.co/1MklJR1GK2

Eventually, PLEDIS released a brief statement and addressed the matter, "It is not true that AI was used in the lyrics of SEVENTEEN's songs, and we have made our stance to the foreign media to correct the contents. "
In other news, Woozi surprised fans with a dance challenge with TWICE's leader Jihyo. On November 1, 2023, SEVENTEEN uploaded a "God of Music" dance challenge of the two stars, who slayed the funky choreography.
Here's how fans reacted to the dance challenge:
- "I swear. Woozi knows the most idols even though members say he doesn't leave his house."
- "This is what we needed! ONCE and CARAT are the happiest fandoms!"
- "Queen Jihyo and amazing producer Woozi!"
- "I wasn't expecting this collab of Jihyo and Woozi, my day is going to go really good now."
- "God Jihyo with our God of Music himself."
- "Such a lovely combination! It really made my day. I'm so happy to see energetic Jihyo dancing to this energetic song and the amazing producer Woozi was so cute."
- "Jihyo looks so good. Thank you Woozi for inviting Jihyo for this challenge."
- "Omg Woozi looks absolutely adorable in this comeback, and Jihyo is looking beautiful as always."
