Beauty Brand Sparks Fanwar After Indirect Comparison Between TWICE Sana & Rosé

Did YSL Beauty indirectly diss TWICE Sana by replying to THIS comment about BLACKPINK Rosé? In an online forum, ONCEs and BLINKs had a heated debate.

Earlier on July 13, TWICE Sana attended an event held by Yves-Saint Laurent to promote its new campaign, YSL Loveshine Factory for YSL Beauty.

On the same day, its official SNS uploaded photos of the female idol who represented the company as its ambassador in Japan.

Along with her stunning photos, the luxury brand wrote:

"Shine on. YSL Loveshine Factory takes over Japan with TWICE Sana."

While ONCEs immediately praised the fashion icon for her top-tier beauty and influence, there are some BLINKs who left maliciously written comments, claiming that Rosé is better than Sana.

  • "We need Rosé again, please."
  • "Rosé is better than Sana."
  • "Nobody being the same as the original, nobody (than) BLACKPINK Rosé."

While "trolls" like these are common, YSL Beauty made the situation worse when they replied to one of the comments, as if approving that Rosé is superior to the TWICE member.

This reply immediately angered ONCEs who started calling out YSL Beauty in the comment section. From fans' perspective, the brand indirectly acknowledged BLINKs' claims by responding to a hateful comment towards Sana.

Sana's supporters also counterattacked Rosé's fans, mocking them for always seeing things as competition and expressed their anger with comments such as:

  • "This makes me so mad."
  • "Well, this is the fault of their public admin."
  • "This is going to be a mess. This is so rude."
  • "You don't deserve Sana."

"Sana is your main source of income and face in Japan and you still have the courage to respond to a hate comment? We will not tolerate this, we want RESPECT for Sana because this was so unprofessional of a huge brand account...shame on you YSL."

As the tension between the two fandoms has yet to subside, YSL calmed down the situation by explaining:

"Today, one of our community managers mistakenly replied to a negative post about our beloved and respected ambassador, Sana. This action does not reflect our brand values. Nevertheless, we apologize to Sana and any of her fans that were hurt by this action. Our commitment to supporting all our ambassadors remains unwavering. At YSL Beauty, we foster a community built on respect, love, and positive engagement."

Meanwhile, after her contract with YSL Beauty, Rosé passed down the baton to NewJeans Danielle as its new global ambassador, whilst the BLACKPINK member became an ambassador of the beauty brand, Sulhwasoo. Rosé is still the ambassador for Yves-Saint Laurent's clothing brand.
