During their fan event "CARAT LAND," SEVENTEEN member DK displayed his playful behavior by showing his "fake abs." However, a large portion of the audience jokingly "booed" the idol, causing mass outrage among CARATs online.
On July 23 and 24, SEVENTEEN held their 8th fanmeeting "SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND" at the Gocheok Sky Dome, in Seoul. Many CARATs experienced unforgettable memories with the group through interactions, games, and performances.
However, one specific highlight from the fan event has caught most of the attention. The event included a game, where members of the losing team would have to perform a penalty song. As displayed on the venue screen, the assigned song for DK was SHINee Taemin's "Guilty."
DK eventually performed the song, which contains a sexy highlight move that shows the stomach. However, instead of showing his real abs, DK entertained fans by showing a shirt with printed abs, much to everyone's amusement.
While many adored DK's wholesome humor and gimmick to give CARATs a good time, a huge portion of the audience members "booed" DK as a joke, since the idol didn't show his real abs.
According to numerous clips online, DK seemed upset by the reactions, and bandmate Seungkwan even stood up by giving everyone who booed a "yellow card" warning.
Though the "booing" and "thumbs down" gestures were attempted as jokes, netizens still expressed their anger against the fans in the venue for being disrespectful and insensitive.
Meanwhile, some praised the other SEVENTEEN members for standing up for DK.
