Did you know that Jihyo almost missed being TWICE leader? Rather, she was going to be the youngest member of Girls' Generation if THIS didn't happen!
On July 31, SNSD Hyoyeon's official YouTube channel, "Hyo's Level Up" uploaded Ep. 7 of its web segment, "Hyoyeon who buys us food well."
On this day, she welcomed her special guest who is none other than her junior idol, TWICE Jihyo, an artist of JYP Entertainment.
During the talk, the two stars talked about their trainee days at an early age, when Jihyo confessed for the first time that she was originally an SM Entertainment trainee before going to JYP and staying there for 19 years.
Jihyo started:
"But there's something I want to tell you. Actually, I met you when I was a baby. I remember this really well and this is the first time I'm talking about it, but I was a trainee at JYP for 10 years, and before that, I was at SM for a year."
Jihyo who was only eight years old at the time and barely had a recollection of what happened continued to narrate what she could remember and said:
"I don't know if I can say this, but this is the first time I've revealed it. At the time, you were there, and some of my Girls' Generation sunbaenim. They told me I was cute and all.
I think the one I remember was YoonA sunbaenim. I was so young that I couldn't remember. But she had a CD or something. Since I was a baby, my face must have been small. They were comparing the size of my face with the CD. I vividly remember the scene where they said, 'You are so cute."

Jihyo continued that she only trained at SM for a year and when asked why she decided to leave, the junior idol simply answered:
"The person who cast me moved from SM to JYP. We ended up going together."
With this information, Hyoyeon claimed that if Jihyo remained, she would have been a SNSD member instead, stating:
"But if you had stayed at SM, you might have been in Girls' Generation. With that experience... because there are members who joined after 2005 among the Girls' Generation members. It's really interesting. If I had known, I would have held onto you. Telling you not to go, to stay together. Anyway, it seems, we weren't meant to be together then."
In an interview after the show, Hyoyeon further expressed her regrets about not being able to debut with Jihyo, adding:
"If Jihyo had not left, she could have become one of our members. Jihyo almost became part of the Girls' Generation. But TWICE is so good right now. But it would have been great if she hadn't left. We really missed out."
