On August 1, Korean news outlet TenAsia released an exclusive report detailing the updates regarding G-Dragon's trademark rights to his name. According to sources, YG Entertainment has officially transferred the name rights to G-Dragon without any compensation.

An agency representative also approached the outlet, who shared, "The trademark rights of G-Dragon and GD have been transferred to the artist."

Meanwhile, G-Dragon's current company, Galaxy Corporation, also released a brief statement regarding the transaction: "There is no problem at all in using the name G-Dragon."

Sources also stated that trademarks are recognized as important intellectual property (IP) and that YG's decision mattered significantly to the music industry. G-Dragon's status in K-pop is closely observed since he has become one of its most influential stars.
