Felix's newest Instagram post has stirred netizens online. Since the photo contained context regarding the Marvel film "Deadpool & Wolverine," netizens have criticized the idol's "promotion" of the film during the ongoing boycott of Disney and Marvel.
On August 4, Felix uploaded a photo on his official Instagram account featuring a Deadpool topper cup. In the background of the drink, viewing seats were also shown, indicating that Felix had gone to the cinema to watch the film.
The idol also captioned, "#DeadpoolandWolverine @vancityreynolds @thehughjackman Beautiful. Hope to see 90-year-old Wolverine and Deadpool."
The moment was utterly wholesome at best, as Felix has interacted with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman several times, from doing an interview with the two stars to being with them in Stray Kids' music video for "Chk Chk Boom."
In the comments section, some fans were happy to see the idol enjoying his time at the theater. However, netizens stormed the comments with opposite takes on Felix's post. They began to call out the idol for promoting the film during the boycott of Disney and Marvel.
For further context, Disney has been a boycott target from netizens since the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement included the conglomerate in its list.
The movement was also caused by the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, and many are hoping to make a difference by boycotting brands or companies that are associated with or profiting from Palestine's seizure.
Read their comments below:
- "Boycott Marvel And Disney!"
- "Hey, Felix! Marvel (Disney) is on the BDS boycott list, we know you can educate yourself and be aware of what's happening in the world now. Your support might be very impactful."
- "Hi Felix, I don't know if you know but BDS is officially endorsing a boycott on Disney and Marvel for Palestine! It would be great if you could unshare this post in solidarity."
- "Please, don't ignore your fans in Palestine, reflect on who you're surrounding yourself with. We know you can speak up for what's right, so why are you not speaking on Palestine, Sudan, and Congo?"
On social media platform X (Twitter), fans have also reacted to the post. The content led to heavily divided reactions from netizens, with one calling Felix out, and the other defending the idol's post and intentions.
