Suga became the talk of the town due to his latest accident. The idol has also apologized for being intoxicated while driving an electric scooter. The issue was also addressed by BIGHIT MUSIC, which released a separate statement.
On August 7, Korean news outlets reported that the Seoul Yongsan Police Station had charged Suga with violating the Road Traffic Act, which relates to driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. It was revealed that the authorities had investigated the issue.
According to sources, Suga was reportedly riding an electric scooter while drunk, and the idol eventually fell. The incident took place earlier on August 6. Sources claim that a concerned police officer had smelled alcohol on the idol, causing the rapper to be taken to a station.
On the same day (August 7), BIGHIT MUSIC released an official statement sharing that Suga had been fined and that the idol's license had been revoked.
Read the full statement below:
"Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC.
We would like to apologize for Suga's electric scooter accident. On the night of the 6th, Tuesday, Suga was returning home in a drunken state when he used an electric scooter while wearing a helmet.
After traveling around 500 meters, Suga fell while parking and a breathalyzer test was conducted by a nearby police officer.
This resulted in Suga being fined and his license revoked. There were no injuries or damaged properties during the incident, and he was escorted back home under the custody of police.
We would like to apologize for the disappointment caused by our artist's inappropriate behavior. As a public service worker, he will receive disciplinary action from his workplace for causing disturbance.
We will be more careful to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
Thank you."
Suga also uploaded his apology online and expressed regret over his actions.
"Hello. This is Suga.
It is with a heavy heart that I feel apologetic for bringing such disappointing news.
Yesterday night, after drinking, I rode an electric scooter on my way back home. Because of my complacency and thinking that it was only a short distance, I violated the road traffic rules without considering that it was prohibited to use an electric scooter while intoxicated.
While parking the scooter in front of my home, I fell down, and there was a police officer nearby. A breathalyzer test was conducted and as a result, my license was revoked and I was fined.
No one was harmed in the process, but I bow my head and apologize to everyone because it's my responsibility and there are no excuses. I apologize to everyone who was hurt by my reckless actions and I will be more careful to prevent this from happening again."
