Former MOMOLAND member Daisy has given netizens insights into her past dating scandal with iKON Song Yunhyeong in 2019. The video immediately went viral, which led to fans criticizing MLD Entertainment for "lying" on its relationship announcement.
In February 2019, Korean media reported that Daisy and Yunhyeong were in a relationship. According to sources, the two idols had dated three to four months prior to the shocking announcement. The news immediately caught the attention of YG and MLD.
At that time, YG Entertainment denied the reports, saying that while the two idols had met a couple of times, they were not in a romantic relationship.
Contrarily, this was followed by Daisy's former agency MLD Entertainment, which released a contradicting statement confirming the relationship, and stating that the idols have been seeing each other for three months.
"This is our official stand regarding the rumors surrounding Daisy and Song Yunhyeong of iKON. After checking the facts (with Daisy), we confirmed that they have been seeing each other with interest for three months."
On August 7, Daisy clarified what really happened behind the scenes of the dating news. Her video also contained a stitched clip from an internet user dancing to iKON's "Love Scenario" with the caption:
"Do y'all remember when Daisy and Yunhyeong were rumored to be hooking up and she confirmed it, but he denied it. He did my girl Daisy so dirty."
Daisy stated that she plans to set the story straight and that Yunhyeong "had very little to do with what happened." She remembered receiving a phone call in Japan, which informed her of a circulating article regarding her "dating news" and the overall gravity of the situation.
Daisy shared that the phone call came from someone in MLD, who also called for a meeting with her. The former idol then went away in a separate car and was taken to an unfamiliar office.
She revealed that a company higher-up, whom she named "John" in the video, asked about her opinion on what to do about the issue. Ultimately, she decided to deny the claims.
"So I sat down at the office, and the very first thing John asked me was 'What do you want to do about this?' So, I tell John, 'How about we deny it like a normal person would?
If you do (look at it again), you'll see that there is no other evidence. The person who wrote the article was not even someone who frequents in writing celebrity gossip and there were literally no photos, evidence, or anything, it looked like it just came out from somebody's a**."
However, Daisy shared that "John" began playing mind games with her, as the higher-up kept insisting about the repercussions that could possibly happen due to "evidence" on the internet such as leaked photos.
"But then, John starts playing mind games with me. So John goes 'What if there are photos?' and I'm like 'But there aren't' and he's like 'But what if?" and that just keeps going back and forth.
He continues by saying, 'But if there are photos or any evidence, it's only gonna look bad for the girl, it always does."
Daisy continued that the mind games had affected her back then. She claimed that the higher-up had called a YG representative in front of her and received the agency's decision to deny the rumors outright.
Despite YG's denial, John continued to taunt Daisy with the idea of photos being leaked and eventually, she admitted giving in to the pressure.
"He looked at me and he was like, 'Did you hear that? They're going to deny it. So what are you going to do about that? I was like, 'Oh, even better, I think we should just deny it too and follow suit. But he keeps bringing up those photos that never existed.
He kept taunting me with that. He was like, 'But it's going to be bad for your image, you're a girl and if anything gets released after, it's just going to make you look bad' and it was working, sad to say. I admit my fault."
Daisy continued:
"So the last thing I told John was 'Then maybe if you know so well, then maybe you should just make the best decision for me' and that was their best decision for me, apparently.
From a very personal perspective, I honestly felt that I was being coerced to confirm it. That wasn't my initial decision nor my final decision, to be honest."
