In SNS, the chemistry between SNSD Yuri and broadcaster Dex has been a hot topic day after day, leading some netizens to ship them. 

On August 7, Disney+ released the premiere episode of "The Zone: Survival Mission Season 3" led by main cast Yoo Jae Seok and Kwon Yuri. 

In addition to them, the show also introduced mixed martial artist Kim Dong Hyun and former Korean Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) soldier Dex (Kim Jin Young) as its new members.

In this season, the four stars face extreme and realistic missions, such as defending against endless AI attacks, managing the financial burden of a mortgage, and holding out in challenging conditions.

Following the episode's release, Yuri and Dex gained significant attention on Korean web forums as well as platforms like TikTok and X, due to their unexpected on-screen chemistry.

There is a viral video of the two where they seemed to re-create a K-drama-like scene when Dex throws his body to protect Yuri from falling hard cardboard due to the strong winds.

Despite the apparent danger, Dex instinctively hugged the female idol and pinned her against a wall to prevent injury. In response, the SNSD member, visibly flustered, hid her face with her hat and commented:

"Oppa, why is he doing this? He's so cool."

Dex, born in 1995, is 29 years old, while Yuri, born in 1989, is 34 years old. Their six-year age difference has sparked further interest among viewers, especially when Dex addresses Yuri as "noona." 

Regarding this scene, the "Gee" singer initially explained her reaction during a production conference held on the 6th where she said:

"I didn't intend it at all. I was a bit taken aback because it flowed so naturally. I was so grateful that Dex always showed up at those moments to help me and protect me. These guys would run away first, but Dex naturally helped me."

Dex, who previously appeared on the dating reality show "Single's Inferno," jokingly remarked :

"It strangely felt like I was filming 'Single's Inferno 2 again."

As more people started to ship them as a virtual couple, their recent videos also drew high interest from fans especially the noticeable tension between them. 

During their appearance as guests on Yoo Jae Seok's show uploaded on the YouTube channel Ddeun Ddeun, he teased the two by saying that Yuri only looked for dex throughout their filming of "The Zone" and even lovingly calling him, "Dex~ya." 

Their first meeting also attracted attention for its awkward yet endearing nature. Dex recounted :

"When shooting for 'The Zone,' I tried to approach her first, but she actually backed out a bit instead. But later on, 'Dex~ya,' After spending some time."

Yuri then confessed while backing away:

"I still feel a bit awkward with him though."

Dex's "guilty" plot that even got Yuri excited gave vicarious excitement to the viewers leaving comments such as:

• "I would actually fall in love."
• "Where can I find a man like Dex? He's so d*mn hot."
• "This is giving K-drama vibes."
