EXO Chanyeol Records 'Disappointing' Ticket Sales Ahead of Concert, K-Media Explains Reason

While EXO Chanyeol gears for his first solo album and Asian live tour, K-media explained the "poor" ticket sales and why they are yet to sell out.

After 12 years since his debut, the EXO rapper embarks on his solo career with his debut album, "Black Out," which will be released on August 28.

Through this album, Chanyeol will showcase his versatility by incorporating different genres in one, such as pop, rock, and hip-hop. He will also flaunt his songwriting skills, increasing fans' anticipation.

In line with his debut promotion, the K-pop idol also announced his solo tour, "2024 CHANYEOL LIVE TOUR: City-scape in Asia," which will take place in 10 Asian cities from September to December.

On August 7 and 8, the ticketing reservation for his tour dates in Seoul kicked off. But a week has passed, and it's still a long way to go until he sells out the two-day tour tickets.

According to Interpark on the 13th (as of 7:45 PM), there are a total of 821 seats left for his two-day concert; 465 seats on Sept. 6th and 356 seats on Sept. 7th.

Compared to his fellow EXO members, who managed to sell out their solo concerts and fan meetings this year, Chanyeol's concert ticket sales are somewhat "sluggish."

Looking at the Blue Square Mastercard Hall where Chanyeol's solo concert will be held, it can accommodate approximately 2,800 people. As the concert will be held for two days, a total of 5,600 people will be able to attend.

However, about 1k seats are still left despite EXO's popularity, clearly showing the current state of Chanyeol's fandom.

Even artists like Urban Zakapa, Younha, and STAYC with smaller fandoms sold out tickets for the same venue, drawing disappointment.

Meanwhile, for the Korean media outlets, MyDaily and WikiTree, the reason the response from domestic fans is falling short of expectations is due to Chanyeol's private life controversy in 2021.

They speculated that some EXO-Ls/Eris (EXO fans) still feel "betrayed" after a supposed Chanyeol ex-girlfriend revealed that the idol had cheated on her with various women, including girl group members and YouTubers.

Regarding this controversy, his agency SM Entertainment did not respond in any way, and Chanyeol remained silent for four months before posting an apology to the fan community.

After this incident, some fans expressed their frustration with Chanyeol and held protests demanding his withdrawal.

However, since his solo album has not been released yet, there is still hope that the idol will be able to have a sold-out concert and uphold his name as EXO.

Chanyeol's live tour will begin in Seoul and continue to other cities in Asia, like Ho Chi Minh City, Manila, Bangkok, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Nagoya, Jakarta, and Hong Kong.
