Jeon Somi's comment regarding THEBLACKLABEL's songwriting process has shocked netizens. The remark also stirred worries for the fifth-gen girl group izna and other artists under the label.

Somi is currently making headlines for releasing her newest comeback "Ice Cream" earlier on August 2. The content comes nearly a year after her hit "Fast Forward," which was released way back on August 7, 2023.

To promote her music, Somi appeared as a special guest on Girl's Day Hyeri's talk show "Hyell's Club," which released its 23rd episode.

 

While many fans anticipated the two stars' charming interaction, one instance had them gasping.

Hyeri shared that she always looks forward to seeing Somi during the summer season and asked the soloist about her absence during winter.

Somi replied the gap was completely coincidental. She then shared some insights regarding the production, specifically mentioning THEBLACKLABEL's year-long process to finish writing songs.

Hyeri: "Summer equals Somi. In summer, I always look forward to seeing Somi. Why don't you come back in winter?"

Somi: "It's coincidental every time. In our company, if they write songs, it takes about a year for them to finish it. That's coincidental!"

Hyeri: "That's why it's always summer."

Somi: "I didn't usually intend to come back, especially in summer. But this time, my song is about summer."

On social media platform X (Twitter), fans had nothing but disbelief and shock upon hearing Somi's comment. Netizens also directed their worries to the highly anticipated girl group izna, which was formed from a collaboration between Mnet and THEBLACKLABEL. Aside from izna, some were also worried for Rosé and upcoming girl group MEOVV.
