On August 22, the "world's largest K-pop festival," the 2024 K-World Dream Awards, opened on this day with the hope of attracting 10 million K-pop tourists to Korea. 

Originally known as Soribada Best K-Music Awards and the K Global Heart Dream Awards, the event was held at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul. 

This year, star-studded artist lineup joined the ceremony, including soloists Baekho, Ha Sungwoon, Lee Mujin, Lee Chaeyeon, BIBI, and JD1, as well as K-pop's representative groups NCT 127, ITZY, TXT, P1Harmony, aespa, Billlie, tripleS, KISS OF LIFE, ZEROBASEONE, QWER, YOUNG POSSE, NCT Wish, ILLIT, UNIS, BADVILLAIN, and Hi-Fi Un!corn, drawing the attention of global K-pop fans.

For the second consecutive year, broadcaster Jeon Hyun Moo and comedienne Jang Doyeon, who were considered "Global Top MCs" then led and made the event more fun under the event's new name. 

During the awards ceremony then, special performances from each respective group took place. Soloists born from Mnet's "Produce" series Chaeyeon and Ha Sungwoon also drew attention, following their collab stage. 

Meanwhile, the most exciting part of the event was also shown, which was the announcement of the winners.

Among the rookies, UNIS, a multi-national group launched through the audition survival program, "Universe Ticket" bagged three trophies including the "Music Icon Award," "hellolive Global Star Award," and "UPICK Group Popularity Award."

Along with UNIS, EXO took home the trophy as well for the "Popularity Awards." Meanwhile, its fellow SM artists aespa and NCT 127 were crowned best group artists and also made it to the list who got the bonsang (main prize).
