Jessi Confesses She Was Forced to Do First Cosmetic Surgery, Leading to Addiction

Jessi has always been open about getting plastic surgery, but she revealed an unfortunate experience when she first enhanced her appearance.

In K-pop, idols are highly praised if they have natural beauty while those who don't and underwent plastic surgery get the brunt of the blow. This results to many celebrities denying even the slightest change in their visuals to avoid negative public opinion.

When the Korean-American soloist Jessi then rose to popularity in the 2020s, she broke this stereotype for openly talking about going under the knife, empowering women to do what they want with their bodies that will make them happy and confident.

However, behind this genuine support to girls, Jessi was hiding the fact that she was a victim of being forced to do her first procedure.

During her appearance in Apple TV's documentary, the "ZOOM" singer revealed that her agency was the one that decided to have her get a nose job.

"The first time I got surgery, the nose job that I got, I tweaked it."

Thinking that it could boost her beauty and confidence, Jessi, however, felt the exact opposite. Rather than feeling beautiful, it opened her eyes, and started seeing flaws in her face that she never noticed.

"But once they did that, I started seeing all the flaws in my face. And that’s when I start tweaking sh*t. So, before that, I wasn’t insecure. I started getting insecure after I got surgery, and that’s when I got out of control."

This is when things get out of control. Instead of stopping with just a nose job, she also got a boob job, double eyelid surgery, and lip fillers. Unfortunately, the self-esteem she got from it also led her to overdo it.

What served as her wake-up call was when she started earning hateful comments, targeting her appearance, especially her lips.

"The first time I had the lip injections, I liked it. It was, like, a good size. And then I started overdoing it.

When I got a reality check, everybody was like, ‘Wow. She looks so botchy.’ And I saw it. And I actually got my lips dissolved."

Nevertheless, the "NUNU NANA" singer still supports women getting plastic surgery, yet the person should also be responsible for it and have self-control.

In her case, rather than boosting confidence, it made her notice her other flaws instead, and being unable to take it could lead to addiction.

Jessi also hoped that agencies would no longer force their artists to get cosmetic procedures without free will. She explained:

"I believe enhancing yourself is fine. When you wanna do it, and someone’s forcing you to do it, it’s completely different. You have to know your limit, you know? And it’s really hard, to be honest, because once you start getting procedures done, little by little, you just keep finding flaws in yourself, and it’s really hard to control."
