Kiss of Life (KIOF) just did a suuupeerrrr performance that got both KISSYs and "One Piece" fans screaming at the unexpected crossover.
At the 2024 The Fact Music Awards (TMA), KIOF paid tribute to the legendary anime by incorporating "One Piece" references to their choreography—from Natty cosplaying the beloved Straw Hat captain Luffy and doing his Gear 2 pose, to Haneul dressing up as Zoro, to Julie wearing Nami's sawfish tattoo, to Belle doing Sanji's "Diable Jambe" kick, to their backup dancers dressing as the Marines, and so much more!
KIOF's performance began by Natty appearing on top of the stairs and wearing a straw hat, all the while "One Piece's" iconic theme song "Overtaken" played in the background, evoking nostalgia.
What's more? Even the much-loved Merry Go was on a huge screen behind the girls as they performed "Sticky," the group's release in July this year.
As expected, the crossover had the internet blown away. Here are some of the reactions to KIOF's "One Piece"-themed performance.
With the amount of enthusiastic reactions for Kiss of Life, Eiichiro Oda must be really proud, because lo and behold, even the "One Piece" official account gave a shout out to the K-pop girl group!
It's not new for K-pop fans to know that their idols like anime, or dress up as an anime character for a special occasion like Halloween, or sing the official soundtrack of a series.
However, this is the first time for a K-pop group to fully embody an anime series, with multiple references in a single stunning performance for a large-scale awards show.
Meanwhile, Kiss of Life won the Global Hot Trend award at the 2024 TMA—and we all say in unison: "Deserved!"
