TWICE Tzuyu garnered mixed reactions from K-pop fans for her blank facial expression when performing, doubting her worth as a solo artist.
Following the respective solo debut of the "unnie-line" Nayeon and Jihyo, Tzuyu, the youngest in TWICE became the next member to challenge a solo music career.
On Sept. 6th, the idol dropped her first EP, "AbouTZU" with six tracks including the title song, "Run Away." Upon its release, Tzuyu has been promoting the album actively by joining variety shows and attending music shows.
While the star earned immense support from ONCEs (fandom), Tzuyu became a hot topic on TikTok after edits pointing out her lackluster solo performances circulated among internet users.
In most of the videos, the singer's blank facial expression was mocked by viewers, allegedly resulting in her low-level stage presence.
Netizens go as far as doubting her singing and dance skills, claiming that she doesn't have the talent but visuals. Lastly, some questioned why she even debuted as a solo artist, naming other TWICE members that they want to go solo instead.

- "The fact that the company literally has Jeongyeon right there, she could have been the third (member) to debut solo."

They emphasized that she improved a lot and only true fans can appreciate her journey and efforts. In fact, in her Sept. 13th music show appearance, Tzuyu took down notes and understood the assignment as she was seen smiling brighter and making more facial expressions, as pointed out by web users.
- "I actually noticed it, TWICE members always take their criticisms and improve. So proud of her."
- "She improved so much."
On X, her fans then raised this concern and hoped that people would be understanding about Tzuyu, given that it's her first time promoting without her older co-members, thus, it is normal to feel nervous. The more important thing is that she is constantly improving and fans are so proud of her.
