THEBLACKLABEL's new girl group MEOVV is making headlines for their debut track "MEOW," much to the excitement of fans. However, the song eventually garnered a harsh review from a music critic in Korea.
According to sources, IZM started the review by mentioning the song's short runtime and its repetitive segments. The website discussed how "tiresome" certain parts were in the track's intro, outro, chorus, and rap.
Moreover, the song's composition was also criticized by the site, stating that the song only offered "monotonous rhythm, inaudible lyrics, and one-sided development." These failed factors were claimed to have led to an ambiguous result.
Though the review noted that the only redeeming factor of the song was member Gahyeon's vocals, it also highlighted the track's inability to give all members the chance to show off their strengths. It then wrapped up by pointing out the trend of prioritizing virality over quality and cohesiveness.
