In a statement, Jessi explained her side after she was embroiled in a controversy about leaving the assault scene when her 18-year-old fan being the victim.  

On Oct. 11th, JTBC reported on a man being assaulted by a friend group of the female soloist, Jessi. 

According to the news, the fan (18) approached the group to request a photo with the star, but when she politely refused, things escalated so fast and one of her friend's acquaintances suddenly attacked the fan. 

Jessi, who was visibly shocked by what happened, tried to stop her friends but ultimately caught abandoning the scene. Later on, witnesses saw the group drinking after the assault took place. 

As people criticized Jessi for fleeing from the scene, the idol released her apology and revealed what really happened through her official statement. 

In her letter, she apologized to the fan and attested netters that they already reached out to him and his family to catch the perpetrator and receive his punishment. She also clarified that she met the assailant for the first time that day.

The "ZOOM" singer then requested people to refrain from judging her seeing only one side of what happened.

Here's Jessi's official statement:

"I sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people with the recent reports about the assault incident involving me.

Recently, while I was having a private gathering with an acquaintance, the victim, who was a fan of mine, asked me for a picture, but I politely declined twice because it was late at night. At that moment, (the fan) was suddenly assaulted by a person nearby who I had seen for the first time that day.

At the time, I was so flustered by the sudden situation that I was unable to be considerate of the fan. Regardless of the circumstances, I feel deeply sorry that the fan suffered such an unexpected loss, and I feel a sense of moral responsibility.

Since the incident, my agency and I have been contacting the victim's mother to quickly find the perpetrator so that the victim can receive an apology and compensation, and we have also been working to ensure that the perpetrator receives appropriate punishment."
