Ahead of SMTOWN LIVE 2025, SNSD Taeyeon confirmed her absence and hinted at "bad blood" with the label.
On January 11 and 12, SM Entertainment will hold a two-day family concert to celebrate its 30th foundation day. The event will be held at Gocheok City Dome, expecting to meet over 25,000 spectators.
Prior to the much-awaited concert, the lineup was also unveiled on November 15. It will include artists from five K-pop generations: Kangta, BoA, TVXQ!, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT, WayV, aespa, naevis, and RIIZE.
In the poster, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon's names were included as participants, but the former quickly refuted this announcement.
"I don't think I'll appear in the upcoming SMTOWN concert. Lately, I don't have good conversations with the label. I am not sure why my name is still included on the poster. I don't have any idea what their plan is."
During her live stream, Taeyeon also continued to complain about communication issues with SM.
"Why hasn't SM told me about Weverse Live? SM, are you seeing this? Any SM staff here?"

Following this incident, SONEs (SNSD fans) are disappointed yet not surprised with the lack of communication from SM since the company transitioned to SM 3.0, the new system after Lee Soo Man left.
This is not the first time that the female icon expressed her frustration with the agency. In the past, she called them out for poor management and security.
SONEs' rage increased after the star released her 6th EP "Letter to Myself" on November 18. Although the mini-album received rave reviews, fans weren't satisfied with its lack of promotional effort some K-pop fans didn't even know she had a new release.
