Before contract renewal with JYPE, Jihyo revealed that she almost quit as TWICE's leader.
What was her reason?
On December 4, the idol appeared on Ep. 12 of the YouTube web show "Naraesik." At the campsite, Jihyo opened up about various topics, such as feeling burned out prior to the group's contract renewal with JYP Entertainment in July 2022.
While all the members agreed to extend their contracts regardless of personal concerns, the "Killin' Me Good" singer mentioned wanting to quit as the nonet's leader and revealed why she ended up doing it again.
"I thought about telling everyone that I didn't want to be the leader anymore. (...) When we first debuted, I didn't think the leader did much. All I did was say, 'two, three' before we introduced ourselves and gave our acceptance speeches whenever we got awards."
She continued:
"I've only felt the weight of this position recently. My responsibilities as the leader aren't exactly draining but I feel like I could die five years earlier than I was destined to."
Eventually, she accepted her destiny to continue being TWICE's leader.
"It's. just how I am. I can't do anything about it."

While on the topic, the conversation smoothly dished on her relationship with each member. MC Narae claimed that she's most likely closest with Jeongyeon, but Jihyo clarified:
'I'm close with everyone, but I think I talk with Jeongyeon the most. We've known each other for the longest time."
During their trainee days, the singer spent 10 years in JYP, while her younger member was an idol aspirant for seven years. Their friendship has been through thick and thin, but their laidback personalities saved it all.
Whenever they fight, Jihyo revealed that they don't make up.
"Real friends don't make up. It's just, 'Have you eaten?"
