NewJeans' Instagram bio became a hot topic after the group was accused of "copying" third-gen girl group Red Velvet.

On December 16, netizens gathered in a discussion titled "NewJeans And Red Velvet Color Controversy Summary."

Following their feud with their agency ADOR, the group decided to move onwards independently by launching their own Instagram account @jeanzforfree, where the members can freely post photos and content to keep fans updated.

In the post, the author uploaded a screenshot showing the account's front page. According to the bio at the time NewJeans launched the account, @jeanzforfree initially had five colored emojis to represent each member.

"When NewJeans created this account, there were trolls of other group fandoms (mostly ILLIT fans) saying that their colors overlapped with Red Velvet," OP shared.

"At first, when these trolls appeared on Instiz, Red Velvet's fans claimed that those accounts calling them out were just small accounts that were childish and they don't encourage the trolls."

Translation: "Their symbolic hearts were also on Insta."

The author also added that the colors never overlapped with each other and that the "controversy" ended when NewJeans changed their bio emojis into their representative animals.

"When I searched it up, it seems like Seulgi uses both yellow and orange, so they never overlapped to begin with, and Irene uses both red and pink. NewJeans ended this issue by changing their Instagram bio."

The OP also cited an excerpt saying, "Irene is pink, Wendy is blue, Seulgi is Orange, Joy is green. Yeri chose to be purple to complete Red Velvet's symbolic colors."
