NewJeans, which is currently in a dispute with its label ADOR, recently launched its new Instagram account @jeanzforfree under the name Jeanz.
Since announcing their contract termination with the company, the five members — Hanni, Haerin, Minji, Danielle, Hyein — have been updating on their status using the new account, and promoting their brand and magazine deals signed without ADOR.
However, their original SNS is still updating on NewJeans, leaving some fans confused and curious about the nature of the artists and label's agreements.
On Dec. 18, the HYBE sub-label released its official statement regarding this concern and refuted that the quintet consulted them prior to opening the account.
"NewJeans (already) have dedicated platform and official SNS accounts, such as Instagram and X (Twitter), to communicate with fans, and we hope that NewJeans members will continue to communicate with fans through these official channels as before," stated the label.
"Besides the official accounts of NewJeans launched by ADOR, all accounts (jeanzforfree) were opened without prior consultation under the exclusive contract."

ADOR warned the team of the possible legal problems they might face, especially since they have been receiving complaints from advertisers.
"There are actually inquiries and complaints from third parties, such as advertisers, regarding the accounts and posting of content. We have conveyed our concerns to the artists and their legal representatives because separate entertainment activities through the accounts could cause legal issues," added the company.
Currently, the lawsuit against NewJeans filed by ADOR to confirm the validity of its exclusive contract is still under the Seoul Central District Court. The label insisted that NewJeans can't terminate their contracts without mutual agreement.
But since then, NewJeans continued with their schedules independently by omitting their team name in their introduction and promoting using their real names instead.
