Meet the 8 Indonesian K-pop Idols Taking Over the Scene: Hearts2Hearts' Carmen, Secret Number's Dita, More Instagram; Kpop Wiki; X

K-pop is no longer limiter to East Asia, with Southeast Asians talents stepping into the limelight while the Hallyu wave continuously expands. As SM Entertainment unveils Carmen, its first-ever Indonesian artist, the spotlight shifts to the K-pop stars who hail from the region.

Here are eight K-pop idols making their mark from Indonesia.

Secret Number's Dita

Dita, hailing from Yogyakarta, made history as the first-ever female K-pop idol from her country.

After formally learning dance in New York, she was scouted by VINE Entertainment and joirned the girl group Secret Number in May 2020.

Hearts2Hearts' Carmen

In February, Carmen, an '06-liner born in Bali, will officially debut as SM Entertainment's first-ever Indonesian artist. She is set to debut in Hearts2Hearts, the label's first girl group since aespa's debut in 2020.

VVUP's Kim

Born in 2006 in Jakarta, Kimberley Fransa Salim—also known as Kim—burst onto the music scene in 2018 after winning second place in "The Voice Kids Indonesia" in 2017.

Two years later, she signed a contract with San Francisco-based record label, EMPIRE, starting her career in the U.S.

In February 2024, she took a bold step into the K-pop industry by joining the girl group VVUP as its main vocalist.

ASC2NT's Kyle

Kyle, the charismatic maknae (youngest member) of the boy group ASC2NT, was born in 1999 in Jakarta.

The idol debuted in May last year and is currently signed under NEWWAYS COMPANY.

14U's Loudi

Loudi, Indonesia's first-ever K-pop idol, was born in 1996 in Yogyakarta with Korean-Chinese roots.

He debuted under the K-pop boy group 14U in 2017, but their career was short-lived after disbanding in 2019.

MAVE:'s Marty

Marty, a member of MAVE:, is the first virtual idol who crash-landed in Jakarta.

The "WONDERLAND" hitmaker is fluent in Indonesian.

Beauty Box's Via

Via, a '01-liner idol, hails from Bandung. She joined the group Beauty Box in 2021 through the South Korean label BY-U Entertainment.

Unfortunately, the original members decided to withdraw from the team in December last year, leaving Via. Now, the agency is on the hunt for new members for a revamped lineup.

XODIAC's Zayyan

Born in Tangerang, Banten, Zayyan is a 24-year-old K-pop idol who debuted in XODIAC in 2023.
