K-pop icon J.Y. Park has lost his father.
On January 20, the founder of the talent label JYP Entertainment personally broke the news on Instagram in a lengthy tribute.
He revealed that his dad passed away in a hospital 10 minutes away from his filming location, although he used to travel from around the world due to the nature of his work. With this, he could see him alive before and after his death.

The "When We Disco" singer also revealed the cause of his father's death.
"In fact, my father had been battling dementia for a long time and was barely conscious for the past year before his passing. My family was mentally preparing our hearts, however, seeing him leave still makes me feel like my heart sank to the floor," wrote Park.
Despite his heavy heart, the "What Is Love?" producer holds on to their fate to Jesus and the gospel as a Christian family, bidding farewell to his father while anticipating their next meeting in the future in the afterlife.
Park continued, "My best friend whom I called 'dad' instead of 'appa (father)' until the end, my dad who always believed in me and cheered me on, he must be reading this from heaven now."
"It's all thanks to my dad that I was able to become who I am today. Thank you, dad. You were truly the best dad to me. Let's meet again and talk a lot," he concluded.
Park announced that the funeral would be held privately only with his family and encouraged their acquaintances to join them with only their hearts.
